so would you go check it out? its got a 105k on it, its about an hour away, how would i know if its a crack block? i mean i dont know of any mechanics in my own area that will look over a car for free let along in his area...

you should wait, if you get that red one you'll be strapped for cash like you already stated. This other one you're talking about, if you can get it for less than a grand and the body is solid, get it, and leave it at home for you work on when school is over. You can use that time to research the project and learn how to do things yourself. Trust me from experience, it's worth it.

i acctually found a firebird, its a 93-97 (i dont remember exactly) it has 87k or around there and its a dealer so i could get my mom to give me a hand in paying for it then i could pay her back.

thats not gonna work out either, my mom is worried about money, we need oil yet and its gonna be over 500 bucks to fill the tank

i swear man, camaros/firebirds are gonna fight me tooth and nail just so i cant have one, but thats ok, there is always that base 87, it dont even have ground effects on it... i believe it even has steelies, but its got t-tops!

ps, let me find the link to that car, i will post it up, i again prob wont beable to buy it now my mom is worried over money and im not trying to strees her out, im pretty sure i can make the 87 work... oh john, what about salvaged trannys? i dont know the condition of this one, but its gotta have like 122k on it as well, what kind of problem will i run into with a high millage tranny? can you find a lower millage tranny (auto) for the 87 v6? for on the cheap side? with a warranty?

A friend of mine had a white one same year minus the t-tops. His was a manual tho. You should like that car just fine.

If you get a loan for the car you will have to have full coverage also.

thats why i cant get that one either, im gonna end up having no choice but to get that 900 dollar car, hopefully the dealer-prick will drop the proce a lil bit... 300 or even 400 if im lucky, then yean it will only cost me about 1200 bucks for an 87 v6 with only like 70k on it

but now im worried about the tranny, the trannies go to, so i donno, wait untill john sees the post up above and can let me know how much a 'new' tranny will go for, hopefully not to much, maybe 1600 - 1800 for a 87 camaro v6 with an engine with only like 70k - 80k and a pretty good tranny, but i figure do it all at once, unless im advised otherwise, but why not do it all at once? it should be easier with the engine out...

Something my dad told me along time ago is don't settle for the first thing you see. Shop around. Its kinda like girls. Shop around and you will find one that fits you like a glove....

im trying to get ideas, right now i will be happy with any camaro that runs, i will be happy with a stock radio, no ground effects, ya know just a basic ass comaro, im only gonna mod the hell out of it later anyway so what does it matter? some plans for the 4th gen that i had, a big bad ass car that handles better then a vette, might be easier might be harder, but what ever it takes / whatever i can afford...

is it possible to do an engine + tranny swap in a day? or 2? or does it take weeks?

If you know what your doing and have all the tools and endless supply of BEER you could do it in a couple of days. Some cars you have to remove the front clip and some you have to take it out from under the car so you would need it up on a lift. Ask Mr. Luos about the engine swap
