Here's an overhead shot of the engine cover on XP3 as promised. I don't believe it was hinged - I think that it simply screwed on with some quick release fasteners so it can be lifted off to allow easy access to the engine.



Surprisingly, unlike the first three prototypes, the Clinic Model actually wore a rear engine cover that was very close to the final production design.

Here's that shot of those two prototypes together. The source isn't printed very well, and without a scanner (I'll get one someday ) I had to try very hard to capture a quality image.



The caption under the photo reads:
The silver No3 prototype sits alongside unpainted No2, still black in its carbon fibre shell.

I will say you when I put online the film with David Clark starting engine, close door and drive away if it interests.
The F1 is the only car make me feel strange when I am in presence with it !

Great to see that XP3 is in excellent shape. It's magnificent that it was repaired after such bad damage to it. One McLaren saved.

? As far as i know, we have no confirmation that XP3 was ever crashed. Am i missing something here?

Slightly back. The Harrods car then went to the Spa racetrack in Belgium. Owner didnt drive it apparently on the legendary track, but used his old Aston Martin racecar!
