Re: Street Vs Track, Why do you prefer the street?

And ET may be the standard for car comparisons, but anyone who actually understands drag racing will look at the next number down.... MPH. High powered street cars just don't do well on ET unless they are running slicks.

I gotta laugh at anyone who says they can't afford $15 to go to the track, if you really can't afford that, then you can't afford to be wasting the gas on street racing either, lame excuse. Now don't get me wrong, I street race too, but I prefer the track. Better traction, controlled conditions (yes, running an 11 sec vehicle WOT on the streets makes me a lil nervous) and you know exactly what you're running, so no excuses. But the street is fun too, if I have a decent tire on, and if I know it's safe where I'm running. I live 20 mins from the track, costs $13 to run on Tues & Thurs nights, I usually average 6 runs or so, sometimes more, sometimes less, but it's always a blast. The people I've met at the track have all been cool (I don't go on Friday nights "street race" night, cause it's nothing but ricers and they don't prep at all).

You're a Professional Bowler? What does that have to do with racing? I guess maybe a really famous bowler like Pete Weber might be able to get away with street racing, but Mika Kouvuniemi, no way.

street racings way funner not just cuz its a bigger rush but you also get to see the girls cruz'n and the trucks with bags play;n at the lights and its just like a party hang out type of nite. its more of a cgear-heads play ground.

Re: Street Vs Track, Why do you prefer the street?

I usually go to meets, and I rarely street race. If i did have to chose i'd go for the track. I could easily get in 5 or 6 runs throughout the night. Maybe more if i went on a wed. night.

Re: Street Vs Track, Why do you prefer the street?

Its more convenient. The only time I'd want to go to a track would be to see how my times are looking or to race a dickhead talking trash on fair grounds.

I'm not going to tell you I can't pay a small fee to enter a few legal races but I will say I'm honestly too lazy to give my nights out away just to score some runs out on the strip. I have work, friends, family and things to do, most racing I have done has been in transit between these things.
(finding/using drift spots on the other hand is something that seems much more worthwhile to spend time doing)

This thread is old but still seems fairly interesting.
