Re: Camaro F1 questions?????
well i didnt mean to say they dont know what theyre doing becuase they know all the OTHER gm makes and models, they did a great job on my grand prix and my old geo prizm, but to replace a starter on my Z a week later and 600 dollars?! they said they had to pull the engine to get to it and they wouldnt work with the warranty company that only covered replaceing the starter motor, but no, the mechanics said it was the solenoid and told the warranty people the solenoid could be replaced, and how convinient that they couldnt find a solenoid.
oh and 89IROC&RS if you are a mr. goodwrench ASE certified mechanic im glad because at least the people that come to your dealership will have someone who doesnt mind working on a camaro and has knowledge of them. its not that they dontknow what theyre doing, they obviously do, but its like they think just because our cars are discontinued and harder to work on they dont want to help you out or awnser questions that could help you fix it yourself. |

Re: Camaro F1 questions?????
yeah that is true, my last 2 eclipses and my 240 i did all my own work on those 3 cars, i didnt know much about the camaro when i got it, and i didnt know about the club im in now so everything i needed or wanted to do i went to the good ol chevy dealership, and your right. they didnt want to work on my car, and many of the guys straight up told me that they never really done anything to camaro's. its hard to find a guy who doesnt mind working on our cars and also knows what the hell he's doing. thats why i just started doing my own shit.but now im sponsored at a f body shop and the guys help me out alot.

Re: Camaro F1 questions?????
thats cool, you must be pretty good at driving to get a sponsorship, so do they pay for your repairs/mods too or is that something that both of you work on

Re: Camaro F1 questions?????
i get parts for mad cheap, plus i get to use everything at the shop for free....lift, tools and since im cool with the boss and one of the techs i use the dyno for dirt cheap. my claim to fame was a gst eclipse that was in inport tuner 2 yrs ago, when i lived in va beach. but i think my calling was demestics, so now im on a mission to see the limits of a 3800. nobody wants to spend real money on a six they would all rather play with a 8 so im gonna be that guy. ill put about 12 grand tops in this car. in the end it may be just a show car, but first im testing out that speed limit

Re: Camaro F1 questions?????
thats what im looking into now, i think im going with diamond forged pistons, maybe a new crank ( im not really sure of the streess it can handle i hear not more than 400hp) looking for a good cam, and those damn headers are a bitch. nobody makes longs for the 3.8, i thought to try an get some made but that aint looking so good, and finding some good ones are hard. in here i heard pace setters were ass, so im limited. if u guys have any brands u know about, concedering everyone in my club have 8's and are no help except to pointing me in the direction of a 8 for sale, then ill be happy with any suggestions u all may have

oh yeah i 4got about what u said about them being ok for ours. damn that helps alot because they are like the only place i can find them without having to search the globe. maybe when i get them , me and my boys may try an do something to them to give them a more custom feel, something to make them a bit better, ill have to ask them what my options would be. damn thats why us rs guys gotta stick 2gether!

Re: Camaro F1 questions?????
ha ha, this thread is a few months old....since then ive finished the 3800, liked what i did but decided now i wanna do a ls1 swap, and also i said the f1 wheels looked better than the ones i had because back when i wrote that i had the stock salad shooter wheels now i have the zo6's, so my sig picture has changed since then lol. and to tell the truth with all the upgrades i did on my car i think the only thing that zl1 has better than me is speed, im sure it would smoke me for now, but after the swap ill murder that car.
