Go there. That's my whole deal. Go to the link and read that first, I didn't get near as much help as he is getting here.

Re: 1993 Escort LX Won't Start

oh yeah, I'd gotten a new TPS from that first mechanic.

From what I'd found on the forums, it seemed that 170 was about average or what it(compression) should be. I dunno, never could find any specs from Ford or a similar credible source what it was from factory.

Re: 1993 Escort LX Won't Start

well i know that every 4 banger ive ever done a compression test on is always in the low 180's, maby the cats starting to get pluged or the exuast is restriced .etc or tahts the way it is.. but anyways.. no one seems to rember this guys car cant start.. could the MAS, or ISCM be the caus of this? (simple and cheap) but theres the issue of no fuel reaching the cylinders? filter pluged, lines restriced, pump inactive, fuse blown? thats what comes to my mind.. check your filter its an easy thing, check the output of thepump, check the fuses, check what the pump voltage and resitance that the pump recieves, if the fuel lines are rusted then it will show in filter. theres more but i cant quite rember it.

oh if the mass air flow sensor is seriosly malfunctioning and sending wrong imput to the computer, is it possible that its cutting off the fuel supply? (no air, no fuel?)

Re: 1993 Escort LX Won't Start

I thought he said he had gas in the cylinders....check plugs, wires <5000 ohms resistance, fuel filter, fuel pressure, fuel regulator, inertia switch, fuel pump relay, fuel pump power, fuel lines.....although if your fuel pressure is right, then everything on your pump is prolly ok. I can't think of anything else at the moment...

Re: 1993 Escort LX Won't Start

i was fiddlin with me car just a little while ago.. forgot to tighten the battery down.. so.. couldnt get it started.. it turnt over, had spark, had fuel, but didnt start O.o.. well till i realised the battery connections were loose.. just a thought. So.. just take 10 minutes and give your battery a once over.. from the alternator to the grounds...
