Re: automaticly slow transmissions

Right Tiptronic Is A Brand And Only Allowed To Be Used On Porsche Vehicles Unless The Other Companies Pay For The Use Of The Name.

A Sequential Manual Gear Box Is Still A Manual (Meaning You Must Use The Clutch Unless You Have A Twin Clutch System)... A Manual Valvebodied Automatic Is An Automatic That Acts Like A Sequential Manual (MINUS THE CLUTCH).

My 700r4 In The 280z We Put A Reverse Pattern Manual/automatic Valvebody In It.... This Means Instead Of P-r-n-d-3-2-1 It Goes P-r-n-1-2-3-d And If The Gear Selector Is In 2nd Gear The Car Is Always In Second Gear Even At A Stop It'll Never Up Or Down Shift Unless I Shift It, But If You Put It In Drive (d) It Retains Full Automatic Status Just Alot Firmer. Now Everyone Is Going To Say Every Transmission Is Like That.... They Are Not Go Out Now And If You Have A Auto Put The Gear Selector In 2 And Drive The Car Will Be In First And Shift To Second When You Slow Down It'll Down Shift.... In My Car If The Selector Is In 2 The Trans Is In Gear 2 All The Time.

I'm telling you to calm down, albight in a jokingly way... you are the one being immature and starting the name callin'... and it was not... NOT a personal attck! I just pointed out that you did not know what you were talking about! Harsh? wasn't he the one 'calling me out'? Grow up, Jared... if you don't want people treating you like a 'dumb-kid' (and nowhere in there did I call you that) then don't get all bent out of shape when someone tells you that you are wrong! Be mature about it!

OK here we go. As I said, on my box that my Denso #1K16 iridium spark plugs came in it says the following. " Iridium Power, A generation of high-performance spark plug that uses the world's smallest Iridium electrode that is a mere 0.4 mm in diameter. The smaller the electrode the more concentrated the electric potential at the electrode. The stronger the electric field, the lower the REQUIRED VOLTAGE. As a result, combustion is good for all types of driving, the engine starts easily, and acceleration is qiucker, the engine has 5-8 HP more.
There was a difference of 0.7 seconds between IRIDIUM POWER and normal spark plugs in the time taken to reach 150 km/h. There was also a difference of 6 m in the distance covered to reach that speed.
JAPANESE PAT. 2877035
GREAT BRITAIN PAT. 2302367

There you have it, right from the horse's mouth.

Re: automaticly slow transmissions

I dont trust any manufacturers statements about HP gains from any of their equiptment untill I test it myself.

They have proven on many occasions in books and in TV performance/tuning programs that sparkplugs dont make that big of difference untill you start making big HP then they may give you the 7HP gains you are talking about. The most important thing is making sure you have the correct gapping and heat range for whatever your application maybe. I also think this was also covered in a Import Tuner or something like that magazine. I have it somewhere if I can find it I will tell you the issue number and the page it was on.

Re: automaticly slow transmissions

Yuh... I heard about those plugs... someone else told me about them... can't remember who... but they claimed a HP gain. Aren't those plugs like $12 a pop?

Re: automaticly slow transmissions

"I forgot you are still into that hi-school shit" and "Let the big boys talk" are not personal attacks? seems to me like you are talking to me like a little kid. and one reason i am on here is too learn stuff, but then people talk to me like a little kid like you just did and it pisses me off.

Re: automaticly slow transmissions

You two kids stop it. And I can call you both kids becuase thats what you BOTH are acting like. I dont care who started it but I am finishing it. LOOK IT ALL STARTED BECAUSE OF A MISUNDERSTANDING IF YOU CAN CHILL OUT ABOUT IT THEN TAKE SOME TIME AWAY FROM THE FORUMS FOR A WHILE AND GO FOR A DRIVE. You both are acting like a couple of middle school children, and I am that much older than the both of you to say that and mean it.

Now lets try and keep the rest of this civil, please. The last thing we need is some infighting amungst the Z croud, that would make us no better than the Civic kids out there.

Re: automaticly slow transmissions

ok I thought I'll just keep quiet for a couple of days, let things calm down, but I see some people needed to show how tough and manly they are and hence came the smack. First of all I appologized for ignorant comments on the auto tranny, but I see that even those who critisized are being critisized by higher intelect. Secondly, my plate (or tag) says LV2DRFT, I dont give a f**k about driving as fast as I can in a straight line over and over and over and over and over and over again. woooo fuckin hoooo.
I have a comercial truck drivers liscence and have logged over 120,000 miles in the last year alone. I know a little about shifting gears. I truely am sorry for offending all the auto tranny lovers out there, their place in motorsport history is well documented.
now for the sake of our beloved cars quit pissing in each others corn flakes and lets go piss on the ricers and pushrodders

I prefer to drift with a rocket booster attached to each side of the car to spin it sideways.

And you'll be waiting alot longer than that. I took the bumper and fenders off my Z for safe keeping, I would have had to take them off later on anyway, and to get the measurements I need to figure out how much space I have to work with. I got the basic idea of how to go about it, so really it will just come down to alot of trial and error. I'm going to be using the stock bolt holes in the door but I'll probably need to mount the swivel base on its own set of holes drilled into the body unless there is enough room I can weld a predrilled plate on the back of the hinge then just bolt the whole thing up to the body. I'm trying for 100% bolt on reversability.
