Well I would say it depends on the situation... if you see a car with the licence plate [LILMIS] or something.... then its definately her car (or another girls car) irellivent of the mods...
If its a badass car with shitloads of mods... then id HOPE it was her car!! (More chicks need to come along and get into the whole "car" thing!!) I wouldnt straight up assume that it was her bf's car...
Whereas... if i saw a chick driving a real nice car.... babying the shit out of it... and a guy in the passanger seat drinking (say parked up somewhere) then i myte think "well it could be either of their car"

OK these guys are a bunch of liars. They know good and well that a chic in a modded out car is driving her boyfriends - especially if you can hear her burning out the clutch.

Untrue! I would be totally pissed off if someone assumed the modified car I was driving wasn’t mine, just because I’m a girl. Come on, get out of the dinosaur age! Girls can and do drive their own modified cars you know!

I'd say ONLY if I hear her burning out the clutch or missing gears.

I still miss gears sometimes when I'm not paying as much attention as I should be! :o But then again, my only mods are rear brake calipers and Infinity speakers

OK OK. I will admit that the only place where I could see a girl owning a modded car is California.

Any other state and it's her man's ride.

Now I have to disagree.

When I lived in Idaho, those modded, lifted Jeeps were theirs (girls) and they took pride in them, and knowing how they worked, and what they wanted to do to improve them

When I lived in Arizona, it was the same, only the trend seemed more toward trucks

Here in California, it went from Toyota 4x's to the ricer trend, but in most cases it is clearly the womans ride, and she knows what she wants to/ or not to do with it.

Sham go check out www.girliegirlracing.com

Chics from all over driving modded out cars. Tireburner, the trend has now moved to compacts....mostly Honda/Acura's, but I have seen a few other nice modded Neons and even a Cavalier all owned by girls.

Also to clarify the original question a bit...I wasn;t necessarily aiming at heavily modded cars with turbo's/supchargers only...I meant anything from mild (lowering and wheels) to all out wild (full show or race)....so basically anything besides bones stock.

Yea, most of the modded Neons I see have female drivers. All this talk reminds me, I kinda sorta dated a girl who drove a Talon that was equiped with hairdryer, downpipes, headers, intake, boost controler, BOV, aftermarket wastegate, not sure what was done to suspension but it was adjustable, 500 degree certed brakes, BBSs. She raced it at the track... And won! A damn good driver she was. She could drive the SHIT out of that little thing! Pardon the language but I feal it is needed to express how good a driver she was.

Re: Question for The Guys

Ok today Alex and I took one of our good friends out for his birthday. In our travels we saw a young girl (late teens) driving a lowered Accord with an aftermarket dual exhaust. The guys started debating on whether she was driving a boyfriend's car, whether it was hers and did she have the work done or did a boyfriend influence her to do some mods to her car.

So......when you guys see a girl/woman in a fixed up car what is your first thought...is it her car or is it her boyfriends? If it is her car, did a guy influence her to fix it up?

I have had many people look at me like I am driving "the man's" car. I even hung a hawaiian lei with flowers on the rearview mirror so people would know it's a woman's car...even my plate has my name on it. Our friends think I should get a license plate frame that says "It's mine and I fixed it my way."
As much as i think its goodng a woman in a cool looking car i have to be honest and say i think shes driving her partners.

I'll probably get in trouble for this

If she looks like she knows the car well and drives it well, then yes I would say the car is hers (i know many females with worked cars).

otherwise I (sexistly) will assume that the car is someone elses

that's an old man's answer....If she can go through the drive up window at MacDonalds, order a Big Mac and fries, and drive out one handed,it's gotta be hers.

I dated a girl with a Eclipse GTS or GST whatever the hell it is. She is hooking it up and all into racing and $hit. Too bad we didn't work out

Usually my 1st response is, "it's her man's ride".
