IMO, if someone is driving dangerously on public streets you have an *obligation* to report them. Everyone seems to have this "it's not my business" attitude. The only time people make it their business is when their son/daughter/mother/father are killed by a drunk or dangerous driver. When i see someone driving dangerously i do not hesitate to call their ass in. I reported two such drivers this week and have no reservations about my actions. Ditto for people driving in the carpool lane who are not carpools. I've got the 764-HERO number programmed into my phone and it gets used often, i assure you. That lane is there as a reward to people who generate less traffic and use less fuel. If you abuse it, you deserve to be ticketed. Call me a "narc" or "tattle-tale" if you will, but i feel completely justified in reporting these offenses. Perhaps if society policed themselves just a bit more we wouldn't need so many of these "stupid" laws many of you keep complaining about.

Bottom line: Me and the people i love are put in danger by many of the drivers on the road. I will do whatever is necessary to get these people OFF the road. If you endanger the general public and i'm around to see it, you WILL get reported.

brian-some advice from a co native:
don't drive in the carpool lane on I-25 (the one that turns onto 36) b/c they always have cops there so you can't even go 65 or 70 plus you'll get a ticket for having only 1 person. coming into denver i'll sometimes jump in the carpool lane when it starts and get over b4 the top of the hill. be careful around there though b/c their is a police station right by the wadsworth exit.

cops do risk their lives. they also waste a lot of time doing bull shit stuff (stop and talk with other cops-cars facing opposite directions, write bull shit traffic violations, donut stops, etc...)
imo the location makes the cop earn my respect. like the cops in the ghetto cleaning it up, not like the cops writing jay-walking tickets in beverly hills.
many cops are great people (i know many), but a lot are also cowboy renegades that would write their mom a ticket for going 57 in a 55. the later are usually people who didn't get any respect when they were younger and now have a big ass chip on their shoulder. these are the guys that follow you for 30 minutes just to fuck with you.
i respect the risks that cops take, but don't respect it when they harass people or waste my time.

Yeah, I've had my share of run-ins with the law. In my town, they ain't got nothing better to do than to f*ck wit me. Now I got my windows tinted so they don't se my blacka$$ with the seat laid all the way into the back seat. They just love to follow me around. But as soon as I see one coming from the opposite way... I just swang and bang, and duck and dodge so they don't even have the chance to pull me over. And I pretty much never speed and I always signal. Now my car is dropped so I gotta keep more of an eye out for dem popos.

cue-ball, actually no i wasnt. i have no problems with good sumeritans (unless it prevents me from havin some phun in my car!

i was merely saying that if another driver tries going through the trouble of writing down the offending car's license number and/or car/driver description, that that person will have to do so at the expense of his road-going attention, as waiting for the next "opportune" time might mean forgetting some key information. you take out a piece of paper at that redline, and before you know it the light turns green... but of course you dont want to just sit there... that is illegal in itself, so you try to write and drive at the same time. you are now more likely to cause an accident than the original offending driver

and so on.


hey greekman, that HOV lan right before hwy-36 on i-25... i take that all the time... i check to make sure there are no cops in the hov lane from before the divider, and i speed down it a good 10-15 mph faster than the traffic adjacent to me... but i'm constantly scanning for a cop next to me... passing a cop while along in the hov lane would be bad... i think its a $100 fine.

but ive done that dozens of times... unless they have motorcycles like, just to the left of the HOV lane (which doesnt sound very safe) then im pretty much in the clear as there is no opening in the divider in that spot.

and in westminster, where they just opened up that hov lane right before the police station... funny i always see it as my best opportunity to speed... they couldnt possibly gun you and get on the highway fast enough to catch me... it would be several minutes before they caught up and then i could always argue they got the wrong guy. plus by the time i get into the hov lane (never immediately) the police station is out of site and there are no openings in the dividers for the motorcycles to sit. of course i'm always scanning the lanes to the right to see if there are any cops.

see what i mean about cops? if it werent for these gay "laws" i could devote 100% of my attention to the road instead of scanning for cops :P

now, heading northbound on hwy-36 right when you get on 36 from i-25... there is a lane on the left that comes from some other 36 entrance.... they pull people over all the time on that because its a double white line youd need to cross over to get on it. of course during rush hour you can do that 1/2 mile in 30 seconds whereas being stuck in traffic would take 5 minutes.

You got a ticket because the back part of your car was in the "no parking" zone? In Colorado? Funny, exactly the same thing happened to me. About two feet of the car, maximum, were behind the "no parking" sign. I should also mention that this was in front of my high school. The school charges $20 per semester to be able to park your car in their parking lot. If you don't want to pay it, you have to park along the street in front of the school. So of course they put up about 20 signs in various places of "No Parking -->" and "No Parking <--". Of course there is no legitimate reason for these signs. The street is about 200 feet from the school, and not near any intersection. The fire lane is in the "pay to park" parking lot right in front of the school. BTW, I should mention, this is a public school. The entire street is lined with cars, so I squeezed myself between a car in front and the 'no parking' area, still leaving enough room for the car in front of me to be able to get out. What a smart idea: punish the kids actually attending school instead of skipping. :rolleyes

Regarding front licence plates, its just more feel-good legislation, and its main application is in photo radar and for improved performance for police using radar guns. Present any law to a soccer-mom with their giant Ford SUV, promising an improvement in safety, and the gullible idiot will support it without questioning it.

BTW, did you know?: Part of the increase in insurance rates that result from a speeding ticket are returned by the insurance companies to the police in the form of new radar guns. Ironic, isnt it?

Here's a suggestion to police in America: Start enforcing the "Slower traffic keep right" law. This will reduce traffic congestion, and therefore, pollution, commute times, vehicle accidents, and pissed-off drivers (crime).

i removed my front license plate also and i got pulled over for it. all i said was that i was recently in an accident and i had to get a new bumper put on...and that i havent put the plate back on. i guess he thought i was a "stupid girl" who didnt know any better and he let me out of it. but i think if u go and show them u put it back on they wont give u a ticket, i dont know just an idea. but i wouldnt pay it!!!

1st: License plates on the front of cars is butt ugly nasty. Just plain fugly
2nd: Cops are cops...they are either cool or bitches...bottom line is that meter maids suck @$$!!!!!
3rd: Cue-ball you need to chill out man. Agreed reckless driving especially drunk and what not are bastards and should be reported but don't bite a dudes head off for pushing their G a little harder and faster than others man. Not cool.
4th: hahaha I got pulled over and the cop asked my where my plates were and I told him some dude backed into it and I took it off and he just shrugged and said ok. hahahaha

I've figured out a way to get by the meter maids and the rest of the city's ways of gettin money from us...Well this is true for Boston and NYC at least...

1. Park at electric meters. The ones where you just drop the quarter in and then it reads it.
2. Take a peice of paper (usually gum wrappers work the best) and make sure its folded nice and tight and just slide it right into the coin slot.
3. Your meter should then read out of order.
4. Basically the rule is that you have up to whatever the meter limit is before they can ticket you. That's after they fix it. Most of the time they don't fix it right away so you have extra time to park there.


Also...for people that have gotten the boot????

If you are in jeopardy of getting "THE BOOT" just jack your wheel towards the curb as much as you can when you park...supposedly its like impossible to put the boot on then.
