Omg finally my computer works, I downloaded servivce pack 2 and it messed up my computer up so much the tech guys here at school have had it all week and it's still not totally fixed, no sound no video, no task panel (whatever that thing is called thats in the lower right corner), slow as hell, all the drivers are dead (which is why sound adn video won't work....it's totaly fucked.... never, NEVER, download a service pack (or anything from windows) unless it has been out at least 2 months! Ohh and links don't work either! [banghead]

Odd - I ran the update on my virtual machine install and everything worked great. I plan on installing it on the main OS next week. Guess, its a hit or miss operation.

Hey Thourun, I know what you mean bro. It's happened to me plenty of times. Whenever I update something whether it's virus scan updates or Windows OS updates, something usually goes wrong. Sometimes after awhile, it gets "better" and starts functioning properly again but other times its just gone. I told me gf to not let the stupid tech guys at our school update her computer but she let them update it because they said it's okay and what happens? Her computer freezes everytime she uses it for more than 5 minutes. I had to go back and clean up the stupid mess....jerks. Hehe

It was because I had jsut installed my new audio system (big 8.5" underdesk woofer and amp) and was using 110% of my processor while i was downloading and installing the update, I think it caused some errors which caused a loop whenever I would boot and all my drivers to get fucked up so now that it is kinda working but my new Cyber Acoustics system is relligated to my little sony walkman instead of the comp. I amd gonna re-install the update but I need a boot disc to get the cryptographic service working before it will let me intall it.

No, I promise that if I die I'll ley you all know lol. I jsut got off the phone with a friend who's a computer prodigy and he mirrored my thoughts on what I have to do, I'm going to go down to the tech center tomorrow and wipe it all and reinstall windows, having copied all my files and shit. Shouldent be too bad but I don't like the idea of totaly wipeing the hard disc lol. If I'm not on for a while after that it wnt badly lol and you can all think of me as that poor bastard who wanted to wipe his drive instead of fixing what problems he had. Wish me luck lol.

Turns out they don't back up music, pics, programs etc because of copyright shit so I went and bought an external drive and USB2.0/firewire PC card, it'll let me wipe it any time I want lol...... Its sad the external drive is 4x bigger then the one in my comp, it'll be a great place to keep my porno and anime lol.
