Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Phil - 038 was at the Miller Motorcars McLaren 50th gathering and run to Monticello Motor Club. As mentioned, 015 was at the ArtCenter Car Classic again. From the other thread, 016 was at the McLaren 50th gathering put together by McLaren HK. Not a bad couple of weeks for F1s getting some public exposure.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

You can move a dealer plate from car to car quite easily. The owners of the two cars are good friends and neighbors.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

That is chassis 062.

Was hoping since we hadn't seen it in a while that perhaps the owner had followed through on his plans to make it more unique through the services of MSO. Perhaps he decided that there was more value in preserving the originality?

Giving chassis 014 some stick, as Tiff might say.

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

It said in these links that Tom Perkins owned an f1. Which f1 did he own?

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

I've never been able to determine that. I'm also doubtful he had it here in the USA.

Reference this quote I found long ago here:

Quote:
"I recall Tom Perkins (of Kleiner Perkins) writing a letter to Road & Track about the "mishap" he experienced in driving his new F-1 home from the factory. "Home" in this case means an estate in England, and I don't think the car ever made it to the U.S."

Re: Recap of the North American F1 fleet

Yes, 13 days shy of exactly 11 years ago.

Petrik owned chassis 045 and 067 - bringing them into the USA as Ameritech F1s with the help of Dick Fritz at Amerispec Corp in the late 1990s. He didn't keep both cars for more than a couple of years though. Chassis 045 was in SoCal at Newport Autosport in August of 2000 and I believe prior to that had been for sale through Motorcars Intl in Springfield, MO. Chassis 067 was sold by a Florida dealer to Elon Musk sometime in 1999 if I recall correctly.

Sort of funny how the headline for that article is referring to 'Show or Display' legislation, but that isn't the method that was used to import those two cars or the EB110 SS he owned. His Jaguar XJ220 and CLK-GTR did though.
