And well, into the works… To make the Revell’s engine covers fit into the Fujimi’s Body some material has to be removed at the top where the covers meet the windshield (area to be removed marked with black)…  Mounting guides are added at the front of the body…  Some sanding to make the covers fit correctly…  With the covers in place it is possible to determine the correct position of the air intake ducts and throttle bodies that fit into the induction chambers, to glue them “Touch-N-Flow” cement applicator is of great help…  Assembled air intake ducts…  With all the induction system parts assembled, wiring detail is added for the air flow sensors and throttle body servos, as well as the vacuum hoses for the induction chambers, clamps for the air ducts and roar pipes for the air intake boxes…   When all the detail of the air intake system is done, the intake chambers covers are assembled…  Bolts for the covers are added using “Model Car Garage” PE bolt heads…  Finally, hoses for the secondary air valves are added and the engine is complete. Some washes will be added latter to add some realism, but I’ll wait until the engine is mounted to the chassis…  Next step is the chassis, so, after cleaning all the required parts, some perforations are needed at the rear for the adjustment linkages of the rear Hamann diffuser. To determine the position of these perforations, the rear diffuser is required, so the work on the Hamann aerodynamics is started. The rear Hamann aerodynamics are made of three parts, one adjustable central diffuser and two rear fascia sills that match the rest of the technology, in order to determine the dimensions and position of the central diffuser the other two parts will be made. After analyzing the forms of the sills, I decided to make them out of three parts: - A base, made of thick plastic, this part will be the one fixed to the body, will define how much the body will be lowered and will hold the rest of the aerodynamic elements. - An intermediate layer that will give volume to the sill and separate the aerodynamic shape of the body, this will be made out of thin plastic. - An outer layer with the final shape of the corresponding aerodynamic component made out of thin plastic too. For the finish, Hamann offers two material options, fiberglass painted to any desired color or carbon fiber, the choice here is carbon fiber…  A piece of plastic is cut out of 0.015” styrene sheet with a shape similar to the lower end of the rear fascia, two plastic rods are used to fix them to the body…   The extra material is removed and the part is sanded to replicate the shape of the fascia…  The rear sills have a particular shape in the area surrounding the exhaust tips that will complicate a little the operation because the outer layer is blended into the intermediate one and this one results as the external one. Masking tape is used to determine the basic shape…  Then is glued to the base…  The parts are cut to the final shape and the internal face is added where the center diffuser will be fixed…  And the outer layer is added cut to the approximated shape...  Some cutting and sanding to obtain the final shape…   Once the rear sills are completed, it is possible to define the shape of the adjustable rear diffuser, to make this part, 0.010” styrene sheet is used, and according to the pictures this diffuser has a curved shape so it was rolled with an X-acto knife holder…  Some adjustments are required until it completely fits, to fix this parts to the chassis, metal pivots are added to the front…   Well, that’s all for today, in the next installment I’ll continue with the chassis detailing, there is still a lot to do… And as I said before, any comments, advices, corrections or suggestions are always welcome.
