Re: Enzo's Last Ferrari: Making of the brutal F40

Gorgeous work Alex. Do you have any trouble with the metalizer paint scratching or rubbing off? And oh man, those wheel nut clips rule! What a great solution, I will definitely try that one out in the future. Awesome.

What an update!
That engine looks impressive, so much detail and sooo clean!
You sure got a truckload of patience and then some more.

Re: Enzo's Last Ferrari: Making of the brutal F40

Another modeling lesson from Alex.
Thanks, to let us to watch and try.
What textured spray paint you use?
I have the same problems with zero pre-thinned clear coat. Many texture and not flat surface after 3 coats. Can you explain the recovery procedure, more analytically?
Thanks again...

There are buffing and non-buffing metalizers. Non-buffing wil lrub off pretty easily, buffing will hold much better.

I used Rust-Oleum Multi-Colored Textured spray. I wouldn't call it ideal, but it wasn't bad. Had to knock down some of the texture before priming and painting.

As for Zero, I just polished it with 3M polishing compound, followed with Tamiya Fine, and Treatment Model Wax.

Thank you all!

Re: Enzo's Last Ferrari: Making of the brutal F40

Very cool stuff. The engine is fantastic and the pins on the wheel nuts are just amazing. I very much like to see this one finished...

BTW - nice to see these magic hands finally.

Does this guy ever have an off day? Kudos Alex. Where do you get your braids/oil lines? do you do anything with them to make them look more realistic? they're the best i've seen!

Few coats of primer, gray, white, then Zero Giallo Modena, 3 coats, then Zero Pre-Thinned Clear (which I didn't like this time, new batch -too much thinner, it cured with HUGE texture and required lots of polishing with 3M compound, then Tamiya, then wax), but turned out well in the end:
If i remember correctly, to save weight a very thin layer of paint was sprayed on the body of the F40, so in some cases the weave of the carbon was visible! I'm sure you have way too many layers there!

j/k

Fantastic build, looks very clean and can't wait to see the end!

Re: Enzo's Last Ferrari: Making of the brutal F40

Amazing build!!

One question though, in the pictures below, is that a bit of sealer or primer that you sprayed? I did a small area of epoxy putty work around the fenders, probably about the same amount as you did, and I was wondering if I need to spray some sealer to the putty. Thanks!!
