Re: Engine Swap

Thanks to everyone who has been helping me on this. Do you know someone who might have the instructions for converting obdo to obd1 a diagram, color scheme with instructions or a script that I can follow for the wiring. What is wrong with buying a conversion kit from ebay? Am I supposed to use the wiring on the d16z6 injectors on with the dx harness is this correct. I would like to get all my questions answered on one page thats all.

Re: Engine Swap

The reason why we've asked you to contact the person you bought it from is because each harness is going to use different color codes. You need the diagram from the guy you bought it from if you want the correct color codes.

Re: Engine Swap

Ok, here you go:

On the D16Z6 Engine harness, you are going to harvest the complete fuel injector wiring, including the little plug with all the yellow/black wires on it. Just unloom the thing with a razor and pull this wiring out. Its relatively simple.

You will also want to get the plug for the Vtec-2 plugs there: 1 1 wire plug 1 2 wire plug. And you will need to get the plug for the o2 sensor, its a 4 wire plug.

Who ever is doing this swap will end up adding these wires and plugs into your stock harness. Doesn't matter what swap you are doing, you always stick with your stock engine harness and just modify it however you need to.

The problem with buying a conversion harness off ebay is this right here: You have no idea what color wires go to what. I can give you Boomslang's instructions, but I don't think it will really help you on wire colors. It will help you understand more of what you need to do on the OBD0-OBD1 swap though.

Simply go to www.boomslang.us and click Resources. This is the harness I got and it was excellent, great instructions, well made and no issues anywhere on it. It was a little pricier than others, but something as important as my ECU, I'll spend the extra cash.

Re: Engine Swap

Also, I have already told you once, don't make new threads asking the same questions you are asking in here. It helps no one when you do that because they won't see what else is going on.

Re: Engine Swap

Tony,

Do I need a resistor box? Im not sure if the d16z6 are high impedance injectors. I was told that I wouldn't need one.

Re: Engine Swap

NO if:
  • They came from the Z6, or anything OBD-1 or OBD2A/B AND from a Honda
YES if:
  • You're not sure where they came from, or what OBD they are, OR if they came from an OBD-0 (non OBD) Honda engine.
Some injector tips:
  • Always go with the car you got them from... if it has one, use one.
  • If you're unsure, use one anyway, it won't hurt.
  • NEVER mix and match. Don't use 2 that need it and 2 that don't.
  • DSM injectors, if you ever use them, some use it, some don't. Never just assume you don't need it. Always assume you will.
  • Replace your lower injector seals, even if you don't think they need to be... you can't easily test for a vacuum leak under load.
