Why all the work converting to a single exhaust? The exhaust looks too low to the ground. I'd think you'd bottom out when loading onto a trailer. Maybe I'm missing something here.

it is BEA U TI FULL work, but sure seems like a lot of work for its intended purpose.

Exhaust is no lower than standard car. Standard car exhaust has been proven to be to restrictive for even mildly modified 5.0 engines (anywhere over 280hp at wheels). Single exhaust allows far better tuning possibilities as well as taking the noise away from the drivers side which is very important regards driver fatigue for endurance racing (my apllication).

I will probably start a war of words on this one, but here goes...............I thought the cars sounded terrible with the dual exhaust (without a balance pipe between the pipes). A flat horrible resonaty noise with no go to back it up!!

^ I believe he's during endurance racing in the car so keeping heat/noise away from the driver are important.

Brian, yes all fabricated at home. A mate lent me a TIG welder so managed to knock all work out except for coating which was done by local coating shop. I expected the job to take up to 60 hours but cut it out in around 40 - 45 much to the wifes anguish.............you know how that goes!!

Very nice... seeing your car done up w/ a carb makes me excited for our setup as we have "sister" cars.

In reality I'm going to re-do the current exhaust w/ better/quieter mufflers for now. Going to ceramic coat the shorties and fully coat/wrap the sidepipes.

Will take some more shots when car is moved out of shed next Brian. Have the fuel tank out at the moment. On another note we set all the suspension up in the weekend. Weight results were interesting as thought we would have dropped a bit from the claimed 2550lbs (alloy heads, alloy diff head etc). Weighed in at exactly at 2570 lbs (wet but no gas). Good news was that even with me in the car (220lbs), weight was still evenly distributed with near 50/50.

Nice, i swear these cars are heavier than that, My M3 race car weighed in at 2700lbs and i could roll it around very easily and push it onto the lift in the garage.

The panoz feels like a lead sled does not roll nearly as easily.

Interesting... you didn't happen to weigh it before the mods did you? I'm going to weigh it before the motor work and after.

From what I've read on here it seems that the 2550 was about 200lbs off of reality. They're more like 2700-2800lbs.

I wonder how much more weight the 4.6 DOHC costs you? That said it is all aluminum vs. the iron 5.0. Like I said above most people are saying they're really closer to 2800lbs.

It'll be interesting to see what I get out of mine after the swap to aluminum heads and a carb etc.
