Don't think that #014 is the same car sold by David Clark, a yellow one. Schaevitz lives in New York. THree cars have been approved this year (through May 1.) Jeans (#022) under a different name, 068 Selldorf, and one other. But I believe that Selldorf's LM may be the other.

I have a sighting to report:
I saw a red McLaren F1 on 6/28/2003 @ 10pm on route 175 in Maryland. I was brining my brother and his friend home from the movies and I saw a very fast and very loud car pass me on the left as I was getting into an exit lane. At first I thought it was an Enzo, but then I floored it to get closer for a better look. I distinctly saw the four tail lights, and the air intake on the back of the car. Had I not been on the exit already I would have followed it to grab a liscence plate number. I've seen a few pics of F1s that had the left and right rear view mirrors mounted on the very top of the car-- this one was configured in the same way. Well there is a red F1 road car supposedly coming to the US - I don't believe any are here now. I heard it was headed for the Bay area though.
I'm just speculating here, but it's certainly possible that it's at that ICI in Maryland (JK Technologies) and that someone took it out to have some fun with it... amanichen - Were you anywhere near this place at the time of the sighting? Just a guess anyway... >8^) ER |

I came directly home and showed my brother and friend 3/4 rear shots of F1s to make sure I wasn't dreaming. They both agreed that that what we saw was indeed an F1. Quote:
If you wanted to take a joyride (in ANY car), you'd do it in western maryland at night. The traffic on the 3 lane roads tends to be light, and most of the cops are home by that time. Going for a spin in balitmore at night, esp. with the ridiculously high crime rate, is not a good idea. EDIT: I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, but I did see a black Viper and a Red Testarossa (one of the earlier ones) on the other side of route 100 heading east. Both sightings were within about ten minutes of each other. Maybe there was a car show in the area -- I wouldn't be one to keep up on knowing if there was. |

Why would Dick Fritz need an ICI if he is a manufacturer? The EPA Certificates for Fritzees cars went to JK. In June of 2002 EPA raided JK Technologies seizing computers, records, everything related to McLarens, IMHO.
Lotus Extige on the road? That would be illegal. Unless you used dual citizenship on the DOT Box 5 HS-7. Or listed yourself (with your home address) as a manufacturer with the NHTSA WMI and CA DMV. (I'm sure this sounds familiar to someone here!) |

what do you mean by it is your opinion that "In June of 2002 EPA raided JK Technologies seizing computers, records, everything related to McLarens". they either did or didn't. About the exige (you spelt it wrong), so what if it was here illegally? There was one on ebay a while back and they guy said it wasn't road legal, but that doesn't mean that the new owner wouldn't drive it on the road. whats your obcession with illegality? |

Pretty cool if it was indeed a McLaren. Did it have a fixed rear wing or not? The only other car that it could possibly have been, perhaps, is an Ultima. But if three people agree it was a McLaren, I am pretty sure it was. Wonder who?!

Since then, I have secured the use of facilities in Southern California. I was just there yesterday, checking out a 240 hp engine conversion kit for the Elise S1, S2, S3, Exige, and Motorsport models. We are also putting in a Mustang Cobra engine in the TVR. I don't want to change the address on record because I travel so much and I don't want to miss anything important. Is that ok with you? Last edited by tvrfreak; 06-29-2003 at 02:44 PM. |

The mirrors are the one thing that leaves me guessing. Besides the Clinic Model (which never had an engine), I've never seen a photo of a red F1 with the high mirror position. Hard to say... I wish you had gotten some photos or been able to follow the car long enough to confirm it was an F1. (based on center driving position, badges, etc...)
Are you certain it was not a Saleen S7?? It also has an intake in the roof, but it doesn't have the cover that flows down the rear engine cover like the McLaren does. The rear of the S7 is quite similar to the McLaren as well IMO - actually, the whole design is quite similar - and the S7 has the same 4 round lights at the rear. Here's a rear 3/4 shot of a Burgundy S7 for comparison... >8^) ER |

Good point. I'd forgotten that the Saleen had 4 round lights as well. Anyone seen one on the road?
