Re: Best lowering springs?

keep the rolling diameter the same and it wont affect anything. meaning go with a larger rim and smaller profile tire to keep the overall circumfrance the same and it being lowered wont have any affect on it, nor will it affect the speedo, odometer, accel etc..

However get lightweight rims and your will increase accel by reducing rotating mass.

Re: Best lowering springs?

15's and 16's seem to be the preferred wheel size...but if you're not in a rush to drop your car i'd say wait, do more research, and then get what you really want...like i'm having to deal with these cut springs so i can save up enough to get the Teis SS set-up...but that's all up to you

Re: Best lowering springs?

Im loving the hell out of my tokico/gc setup. With the Da teg rear sway bar and my sticky ass tires, I have a great balance in corners and a slight tail out stance, kind of like a rwd car. The more I put my foot into it, the harder the noise digs into the turn, and when I let off the rear kicks out slightly to allow me to point the nose into the corner.

Re: Best lowering springs?

Well...alot. like, alot alot. Id have to show you to explain.
Eibach prokits that came on the car (may have been from an integra.)

Before settling just after install.

Right now you cant get a finger in at a 45 deg angle..much less straight.

I cant raise it anymore than that right now. I got my GC's from the junkyard off a mazda mx-3. They are too short, that is maxxed out. Im about 1/2"-3/4" from the bumpstop. But hell, I got em for 50 bucks.

I did break down and order longer springs for the front. I have 2 12" springs of the same 300 spring rate sitting next to me waiting to be put on.

Also, this is what my unmodified camber looked like.

And me running an autocross. this is a very slight left hander.

Re: Best lowering springs?

my sedan had a huge camber issue after only being lowered by 2 inches... the rear was almost straight up tho... I think it has alot to do w/ worn bushings, sometimes.

I've pretty much decided that I"m going to go w/ air-struts, since I only plan on dragging the car on weekends... not auto-x.

Plus, I"ll have a secondary theft prevention system... if the chassis is sitting on the tires when it's parked, you aint' driving off with it.

Basically, the air valves are only going to be active when the ignition is "on" or hot... meaning that if the key (or switch in my case) is "off", the car is sitting on it's tires, basically, fully lowered.

Re: Best lowering springs?

nice stance frodo, what size wheel/tire combo is that? these 17s look somewhat huge lol...

and dropzone, that's not a bad idea but you may want to check your local laws... in some areas it's illegal to have a vehicle sitting that low or with adjustable suspension

Re: Best lowering springs?

its illegal to drive with it that low. otherwise it can be 'for show use' which isnt illegal.. from the sounds of it he's going to be driving with it not so low, which wouldnt be any different than you or i driving around on adjustable coilovers

Re: Best lowering springs?

At this one intersection off Newtown and Va Beach Blvd I got a ticket for my exhaust, adjustable suspension, tires having excessive wear, and blue headlights…also got handcuffed b/c when I reached to get my registration there was a steak knife in the glove compartment that my wife left in there…I only got harassed in Va Beach…they said it’s just as bad in Chesapeake…you should check out www.vadriven.com if you haven’t already…I go by the same name on that site
