I haven't seen anything official, but love that track so much I'd probably pay to watch monkeys on unicycles race around Spa if I had the opportunity. You should go either way.

Don't know if the F1 will be there but I'm going on Saturday :

Saturday, practice : 09h55 -10h30 - GT 90's (15'+5'+15' = 35 min)
Sunday, race : 09h00- 09h45 - GT 90's (45 min)

I have just heard from a new contact of mine who owns & drove the Lister Storm and Chrysler Viper seen at this years Goodwood FOS that the Spa round was cancelled during the Dijon round earlier this year. Apparently Ratel has agreed on a round at Le Castellet in the autumn

With only seven cars, Dijon saw another disappointing grid, but everybody present was convinced of the potential of the GT 90’s Revival Series. I believe that everyone had a very nice weekend, on a challenging circuit, within a nice historic event, with wonderful weather and a pleasant dinner to bring everybody together.

Far from renouncing the development for the series, I want to present you with a rescue plan with the following eight measures, to be applied between now and next season :


1: Cancellation of the planned meetings at Spa and Brno, in order to regroup all the potential competitors at a single event, to take place on a centrally located circuit, at the end of September / early October 2008.
Before relaunching the GT90’s for 2009, it is essential that we can prove the Series’ potential by being able to bring together a grid of a minimum of 20 cars. This last event of the season will be confirmed once we have received entry forms and payment for this minimum of 20 cars.


2: Direct series management by myself and my assistant Sandrine Jarnet from SRO’s London office. Sandrine’s number is :+44 207 835 2576 and her email address is [email protected].


3: A regrouping of the eligible cars around the indisputable GT cars, excluding GTP-like cars such as the Stealth and the Harriers for the 2009 season.


4: The selection of five events for 2009, divided between international meetings such as the FIA GT Championship and historic events, selected according to their capacity to propose programmes focused over just two days.


5: The duration of each race will be increased from 45 to 50 minutes, helping the two drivers’ pairing while avoiding refuelling.


6: A reduction of the entry fees starting from the last planned event for the 2008 season, with fees depending on the class entered. These will be 2000 € for GT1, 1500 € for GT2 and 900 € for GT3


7: A relaunch of the internet site, in line with the other SRO-run sites.


8: A focus on conviviality, with the organisation of dinners at each event, bringing all the competitors together.

I trust that these measures will work towards making the GT 90’s Revival Series the success we believe it could be.

So as long as there are at least 20 cars on the grid for the season-ender then gt90 in 2009 should continue, and linking them to the FIAGT / other historic events, along with the trimmings of after race lunches etc should entice more competitors to race.

Following our email dated 6th August, we are delighted to come back to you with a proposal to regroup all our competitors for a single event before the 2009 season.

Indeed, we have the opportunity to take part in the “Grand Prix Historique de Provence” (http://www.gpao.fr/gphpaccf.html) at the majestic Paul Ricard circuit (5.8km) in south of France on 1st and 2nd November 2008.

As previously mentioned, we count on you by bringing together a minimum of 20 cars. This last event of the season will be confirmed once we have received entry forms and payments for this minimum of 20 cars by Friday 13th September. This time, we would not want to disappoint anyone and we have to prove the potential of the Series to better promote the 2009 season.

Remember that:
1) A reduction of the entry fees will be applied, with fees depending on the class entered. 2000 € for GT1, 1500 € for GT2 and 900 € for GT3,
2) The duration of each race will be increased from 45 to 50 minutes, helping the two drivers’ pairing while avoiding refuelling,
3) We will focus on conviviality, with the organisation of a dinner on the Saturday, bringing all the competitors together,
4) A relaunch of the internet site, in line with the other SRO-run sites is now well under-development and should be live next week,
5) We can assist you with the organisation of the accommodation with rooms pre-booked at the HÔTEL DU CASTELLET (4 **** Luxury).

For your kind information, the first entry already confirmed is from Stephane Ratel who will race the Ferrari F40 LM if the entry of other high level GT1 cars or the Venturi is confirmed.

The entry form will be communicated next week together with the sporting and technical regulations.

Update - 17 cars are entered for the Paul Ricard event, but no F1

Let's hope for some F1's next year and that GT90 doesn't die!!!
