Re: Bad Boy Vette

[quote=sam01contact]One question...are there any differences between the 2006 and 2007/08 cars? Is OK if I use the SMS kit with the new Bad Boy decals?[/QUOTEto t]

The sms kit (06) is more detailed to the 2007/8 car that the stock Revell kit(presentation model; NOT real 2005version).
(e.g. better diffuser and the right rims)

Studio27 is going to make a new kit which is more based on the 2007 car (they are planning to release all the C6-R's of the 2007LM race shortly)

Decals will be for both sms/revell(same revell body), because S27 kit isn't released yet

Re: Bad Boy Vette

I think the hood opening is smaller on the 07 Laguna Bad boy than it is in the kit. Not sure when it changed but there is a difference.

Here is my question, why buy a curbside kit by S27, when for less money you can have the SMS/Revell kit? Which has a far more amount of detail including the interior? I always find S27 interiors to be over simplified.

Sure the Revell plastic is a bit cumbersome but decent modeling skills can make it a nice build. I've seen several different sellers offering the SMS kit for 99USD. If you build 2 different versions that's $198, where as 2 kits By S27 is going to run you at least $310.

Re: Bad Boy Vette

If Studio 27 is only a curbside, a $150 price tag is just crazy!

Re: Bad Boy Vette

Why not. Revell kit isn't a real 05 version. The back hasn't got the messing (front needs to be opened and inserted with own mess), wrong diffuser, wrong rims (which is corrected in the SMS kit which is nearly as expensive as the coming S27 kit)...
SMS is needed to correct the Revell faults.
I feel cheated by revell with detail level outside car. S27: I feel cheated by the price...
Well my sollution for myself, I buy: 05/06 cars (and 07 decals non LM) SMS/Revell; 07 LM 4 versions S27 (for me the S27/SMS kits are just as expensive here)

Re: Bad Boy Vette

I think it would be great if SMS could release the photoetched parts and carbon fiber decals as separate items, but I think that's not going to happen

Im sorry, I dont want to be rude, but Revell got the wheels right for the 2005 car, at least the orginal version. The diffusors found in the revell kit are based off the introduction version, and im sure the wheels are as well. The diffusor was used at Sebring, but then changed by Le Mans, to the one you see in the SMS kit. However, the same 15 spoke wheels stayed throughout the season to Laguna Seca
http://www.corvetteracing.com/pictures/2005/lagunaseca/
Maybe your talking about 06 car, then the SMS kit got it right. As for the 05 kit, the wheels are fine (everyone says there wrong, but not for the 05 car)

So if your going to build the 2005 car, all you need is the kit and the S27 p/e part. That fixes the need mesh for front and rear. So far Ive spent a total of $33 plus tax for both the kit and the p/e set. A little bit creativity and custom parts, you'll be satisfied. If you want the correct diffusor or wheels for a 2006+ car, spend all the money you want

Edit: What Revell really did mess up was the windows for the car. The car has side windows!!! How are we supposed to apply the Bad Boys Decals when they go over the window???

Re: Bad Boy Vette

Yes I know te Revell rims are the right 2005 ones (sorry I didn't make that clear). But Revell making a introduction car that is actually a C6-R body work on a C5-R chassis car doesn't make me happy. Certainly not when that car was released by Revell so many months after than the actual LM2005 race. And also, as with the C5-R kit of them, no LM race windows...
Ok it is a cheap kit, but if Tamya did a job like that we would have a flammed thread here (maybe already with the interrior of the Lexus SuperGT kit)

Re: Bad Boy Vette

yup that 's the same problem that occured when LMM released the audi R10 and revell arrived with it. One is 20 euros, the other 140 (yeah and you can find it at 90 dollars on ebay, that's crazy).
As for the SMS TK, honestly i won't pay 100 dollars for just 4 alu wheels and decal, it's overpriced, like the hiro TK for the fujimi 126C2.Rather buy the mutlimedia kit completely.

ST27 will have the PSI version, the black and orange one, but still yeah they should just release some decals and that's it.
The revell kit is fun, but wrong with the windows and rear spoiler attach. Also, yeah for the 2006 version they didn't correct the wheels, which switched to BBS, and not OZ.

This bad boy vette looks great, but be careful, ST27 have eyes, so they can also release it as a decal sheet. The kit is due in march, pics on their site. Nose seems big....

I am making the Esso Supra JGTC kit at the moment of S27, it is really great. But with the new S27 kits i'm not so sure about their accuracy. But as with the 550 pics, it isn't the final version yet...

Re: Bad Boy Vette

Manu, do you actually think S27 is going to make three different bodies for the 3 different LM cars? Nope it will be the same and you will have to alter it to make it the correct version. Not something I feel all warm and fuzzy about after shelling out 155 to 165 USD. (Look at their Viper bodies)

I think there will be other LM versions printed to fit the Revell so the PSI experience and Luc Alphand efforts will be able to be built. This and other threads on AF have shown a lot of interest in other vette liveries. Maybe we will see lot's of different things start to happen. It's about time.

As far as paying $100 for a TK for rims alone, you need to see what's in the TK before making that statement. You get an entire kit, tons of PE and lots of TM plus a decal sheet for LM06. Far more than ANY curbside S27 kit. All the inaccuracies you list were fixed in the SMS TK. So your logic stumps me.

At this point I don't care if S27 does Bad Boy, I'm either buying SMS or Strada decals and probably both but not S27, different scale more money.

Wow...hold it, hold it!!

I know the Revell kit is 1:25...Studio 27 will be 1:24??

There goes my plan of MAYBE using studio 27 with the Bad boy decals from SMS or SPEEDLINE.

Re: Bad Boy Vette

So I went back to Strada and Scale Motorsport looking at the Whats new or Coming Soon sections and I do not see any of the '07 Bad Boy Vette declas. I do see the white decal set.

Are these decals canceled? Are they at the printer? Will they be released?

Chris

I believe SMS is set to release these at the NNL and have them on their website by the end of the month. SMS and Strada may each release a version separately; one of the yellow car and one of the black car. I spoke to Kevin and emailed Matt last week encoraging both to release a version of decals. I really wish someone would do a plastic or resin version of those rims as well...
