Re: WIP...Peugeot 405T16GR

Well, I found out that the shock absorbers/springs parts are a unusable mess (sink marks just in the middle of the springs!!), so I scratchbuilt new parts using wire and aluminum tubes.

I am scratchbuilding almost 70% of all the engine bay parts...Hopefully I will have everything installed in 4 or 5 days

Re: WIP...Peugeot 405T16GR

Here´s some advance!!

I instaled the shock absorbers:

Next, I painted the rear wheel covers with Tamiya´s chrome yellow. Then, I covered the part with old carbon fiber and applied some dark red (semigloss)paint to the inside. I was told Peugeot used this red latex paint as a sand abrasion resistant.

By the way, I will add some sand weathering later to this area to tone down the carbon fiber a little:

Here is the engine/rear suspension with the new parts installed:

I am still working on some engine bay pieces. Almost all of them need some scratchbuilding to look decent...here´s an example:

Hang in there please!! A new update will come very soon! Hope you like the progress!

Re: WIP...Peugeot 405T16GR

Finally some progress!!

This image shows the engine bay with more air filtering elements installed....like I said in a previous post, I had to update or scratchbuild all the original pieces. The only piece missing here is the main exhaust tube, but I will install it after I glue the engine to the chassis...that way, I will be able to align this tube properly.

I sanded off 2 electrical boxes that are molded in the cockpit that should not be there, and eliminated the one over the transmition tunnel, because it should be bigger. I primed and painted the chassis after I drilled all the holes were the wires will be.
I also instaled the seatbelt supports.

Next, I installed the fuel cells in the underside of the chassis (aluminum braces are represented with nail strips ...I even got the wife to hold this part for the photo)and did some wiring to the moulded box in the rear panel of the engine bay.

This is it for now, but I will have more progress very soon...looks like the hard (but very fun) part is over

Re: WIP...Peugeot 405T16GR

I just finished detailing the engine bottles:

I installed the bottles and glued the engine/rear suspension in place. Finally, this one is beginning to look like a racecar!!

It will be fun to put all those cables in place!

Hope you like the update!!
