the new inline motors are not like honda motors with no tq.

inline motors, especially this application, and others, like the old gm straight six, the bmw inline 6, and so on, make tq like no tomorrow.

and don't think that a turbo'd 5 couldn't keep up with the s/c'd 6.

if the motor has more tunability, ie. dohc... you can make it faster.

and... per chevy's site..
i4 170 hp 177 tq
i5 215 hp 225 tq

compared to
current 4 and 6
4 120 hp 140 tq
6 180(190option) hp 245(255)

it's less tq, but the overall design of the motor is better, and besides, it's the gearing that's going to get it moving.

but anyways...

demon...

it's not the height of the truck that matters, it's the ground clearance and approach angles that matter if you take a truck off road.

the silverado/sierra has no problem in this area. and is completely at home off road...

consider the new h2, which has great clearance. it's built on the same basic chassis as the silverado/gm suvs.

the s10's that are sold with the sport suspension carry the same zq8 suspension as the xtreme, (which was offered first on the last model year ss before the xtreme came out) which is an option on all s10s.

You're right about the boxy style. I HATED that look. I want to see more retro type cars like the PT Crusier. BUT NOT THE PT. I just like the kind of retro look. They had all these retro-style lines ready to go out, I don't know what happened.

I love the sleek curves of our cars. I hated the box on wheels of the 80s.

How is that stupid? Just because it's an odd number of cylinders? Or is it because it's an unusual configuration? Does that make the W12 stupid as well?

That really comes down to displacement, timing, and the configuration of the shortblock. I can show you a 2.2 liter turbocharged inline 5 cylinder that makes 258lbft@1950rpm, and yes, it is a gasoline engine.

The prototype version of that engine powered the Audi Ur Quattro Sport, or S1 to several championships in Group B...

Here is a very nice video, showing how close they came to hitting spectators :o You don't really get to hear the engine much, but they make a very pleasing sound.

All the car companies seem to be going back to the "box" look. Ford did okay with the SVT Focus hatch, but their new Explorers (and now ALL their trucks) resemble the "styling" of my dad's tan 1981 diesel VW pickup.

Its like some kind of conspiracy among the retarded designers... I can hear their chanting now...

"Today, the Aztek. Tomorrow, the world!!!"

Well, if there's any solace to be found, the team commiting this retinal massacre is on its way out. Creations like the Solstice, G4, GTO, and the new SS concept are becoming the GM order. The problem is convincing thirty years of bean counting that there needs to be some EMOTION in automobile design. Bold and daring styling does not equal attractive styling. I thought everyone learned that one from Ford in 1958.
