Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

I decided to modify roll cage as the Tamiya's is to much simplified. Steel - Tamiya, white parts - mine.

Unfortunately, measurements were wrong

It looks bad when assembled. Too low and generaly speaking wrong at all. The only good thing is that it is not glued yet I will have to do it again...

Some "don't worry" sentences appreciated

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

it seriously doesnt look too bad to me, after the mess I made of my Celica roll cage this looks perfect. Where is it wrong, is it too low?

Yes, it sits too low and front pilar has wrong angle. In real it is not that obvious but you can spot it at the first look. In other words - positive effect of the modified cage is dimnished or even completely lost by bad design

I too think that it looks good !

And drivers wear helmets anyway... So what if it is a bit too low.

Thanks...

Being a bit anti-rollcage I did quick painting session with Finisher's paints

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

Looks pretty good, however for the bars that form the x on the top often there is only one diagonal. The diagonal usually connects to the front corner at the window on the side where the driver sits. This is usually done to prevent the driver from hitting his head on the bar. If you check out some of the other Tamiya kits with right hand drive Like the Nissan R32's and full cages you will see this type of layout.

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

Thanks for the hint but on the pictures I have there is full "x" on top of the cage.

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

Yes, no doubt then you are correct, however that is why I said often and not always. It seems to have to do with whether there are co-drivers or not.

Re: NSX Mobil 1 - Tamiya 1/24

I still don't like roll cage
In the meantime I finished some interior details. I use different kinds of carbon decals to get (in my opinion) more natural effect and not dull interior.

Here I used Modeler's decal

and here Scale Motor Sport
