Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

Wait a minute, so I am even more confused... is it 318 whp from an actual dynometer or a DSMlink projection? And holy A/F ratio! 9.21:1??

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

no actually did 318 on a dyno. baseline run was 220 with 7 counts of knock.
That a/f ratio is the estimated look at aemwbgauge thats what is actually reading true a/f values which is 10.8:1 The reason my af estimate is off is because my fuel pressure isn't rising 1:1 with boost so I'm having to add fuel flow at the injectors which my dsmlink is accounting for but not realizing my fuel pressure isn't where its supposed to be.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

I like where this thread is going. I hate to bring it back to my original post. But I want to get an opinion on whether a fully programmable ECU is necessary. I met this kid and he said he used nothing but a fuel pressure regulator to get 400fwhp and a piggy back would be more than enough... I doubt he did what he said, what do u think? And would a SuperAFC be enough? thanks

What's a fully programmable ECU? DSMLink is one of those, but there is none for the 420a. MegaSquirt and AEM EMS are standalones, but they still use the actual ECU.

You need someway to control the fuel. A regulator is not enough. You need something to actually the computer to put more where. I forget what you wanted to get, but a SAFC is good for 450cc (IIRC) injectors. With a ton of boost and anything larger, you need something else. For a straight build with the E16G running like 15psi, the SAFC should be good enough.

I think this one works... What about AEM's Standalone? http://www.titanmotorsports.com/aemstanecu.html I've never tried it, so it might be way above what I'm trying to do.

Re: Turbo a 420A... I Want Your 2Cents

Deffinately go with megasquirt. Its full stand alone for fuel and spark. You actually can take out your stock ecu, but it controls more than just the motor so most leave it in.

If your friend was running something like emanage and running a 8-injector setup it is deffinately possible. It would be almost impossible to get 400whp using a SAFC, they just dont have enough adjustability.
