A little unfair don't you think?
You're more or less saying that everyone who voted for that one did so because the drawing is flashy and hence eye catching and not because of any design merit that it might have. "Supercar" is a comparative term and in reality has no definite meaning. Considering that the time period was 60s AND 70s; that stretches from the old curvey front engined Ferrari 250s to the later mid engined wedge cars and everything in that period that stepped beyond the norm.

I do agree about the badly defined "rules" and the vague brief didn't help. That's wht I asked what the judging criteria was before I clicked that button.

Anyway, I've got a little idea.
The next time someone wants to hold a forum comp, PM me and I'll sort out the thread and other related. I can sticky the main thread and organise links and what-not.

Entry 3 looks really nice and is a nice design based on an older version.
Thumbs up.

Re: Voting: 60/70's SUPERCAR DESIGN CONTEST

OK, First, I want to thank everyone who voted for the Superbird Design. I had this one brewing long before I even signed up on this site. However, for those that don't know about the 1970 Plymouth Superbird, do a little research on that car. You'll find that its racing history is that of a "Super Car". It was the first American production car to break 200 miles per hour. Driven by Richard Petty, Mopar's sole mission with the winged warriors was to go fast. In fact the cars went too fast and sold pourly on the market due to their unorthodox design ques. But anyway, you guys can read all about that on internet.

As far as the competition goes, I want to publically apologize to SeiG for the comments I made yesterday for criticizing my drawing (to what I felt) so harshly. No hard feelings.

That said, I think that I should not be a part of the next drawing competition. This was competition was supposed to be fun, but the harsh critiques on my design made the competition not so fun for me. Sucks. I will gladly watch from the sidelines. There seemed to be too much animosity during this voting session to make it fair for me to come up with the next competition. I'll be back for another competition on a later date but for now, I'm just going to work my technique.

Thanks,
BRIEN ROTH

Re: Voting: 60/70's SUPERCAR DESIGN CONTEST

Ok.
Now for the flip side of the discussion. What he said about your drawing wasn't harsh as it was only things that he saw to be at fault with your drawing. Nothing he said wasn't "true". The thing I pointed out was that those things weren't relevent in a quick design contest thing like this was. Harsh is having a tutor tear down a drawing, rip it up and saying that it's a pile of shit.

Re: Voting: 60/70's SUPERCAR DESIGN CONTEST

ok people... voting will still finish in 2 days time, but i think we have a clear winner.

This contest was about having fun, and voting for what you think looks the best, not wether you would be able to make it without some adjustments.

and GB, sorry to hear about your car

Ok, next compo will be posted soon.
