Standard vs. Automatic

I see a stick as being more of a masculine fixation. I guess it's due to the fact that we like to have control over anything we can. I do know chicks that drive sticks, but mostly guys. I personally prefer it much more over auto for the control factor. You can upshift or downshift whenever the hell you want. You launch easier (better than tourque braking imo). The self satisfaction of completing a heel-toe downshift, rev-matching, and getting better mpg are great reasons for driving a stick. I think it should be a life skill that everyone should learn. It's very important if you ask me.

It also pisses me off that more cars don't offer manuals. It's crazy that 90% of new american cars are autos. That sucks! Everyone is getting too lazy. The human race will probably die out because everyone gets too lazy and too fat to move so then we just sit around, starve and die. Had the manual transmission been implemented more, maybe we will last longer. Who knows.

Automatics are great. I have no problem with someone only learning on one of those. Now if we could only get those bastards in Europe and Asia to get on the right side of the road....

Technically no. The car was around in NA in mass numbers before it was in Europe. However the reason that people drive on the left side of the road is a long story.

To sum it up, most people in the Middle Ages were right-handed. Therefore when they went to pass somebody on the road, they would have there best hand closest to their sword. There's another rule for if you have an animal with you butI forget the details, I saw that on a discovery Channel show once. Apparently, people weren't as nice back then.

I love stick . . . but I can't help but think that I would like to havea a luxo-pimpin' criuse-mobile to drive once in a while that is automatic.

i don't know why people complain soo much about a stick in traffic, i don't think it's that bad in traffic. You juss stay in 1st gear the whole time, it's pretty much the same as auto, just that your left foot is pressing a pedal instead of just sittin there
