Re: WIP:Greg Anderson's Vegas General NHRA Pro Stock

I decided to put the Kasey Kahne car aside for the weekend, and try to make more progress on my Pro Stocker. The first few things I did were to undo some things from the last time I worked on it. A few areas I just wasn't happy with so out they came. Once I was back on track, I turned a new master cylinder fro the brakes and got it moutned to the firewall. Then I proceded to start routing the front and rear brake lines using craft wire and crimp fittings.

Once that was taken care of, I started scratch building the massive front fuel pump. I turned three new parts and scratch built it and installed it up front, close to the fuel cell. It was then plumbed with Pro Tech braided lines and fittings.

From there, I scratch built a new fuel cell from square styrene stock and got it installed and detailed as well.

And finally, a test fit of the engine. It should be ready to be installed for good in a few days.

Thanks for looking!

Re: WIP:Greg Anderson's Vegas General NHRA Pro Stock

Final bit of progress from the weekend........since the front body work will be displayed off the car, I really want to make sure all my front end details are as good as they can be. With that in mind I really wanted to do a clean job on the radiator since it is one of the most visible parts.

I started out with sheet plastic, cut the center out, and then boxed it in on both sides with square styrene stock. That left me with a ledge inside to be able to mount some PE screening. After the framework was smoothed out, I added 10 or 12 strips of #1 DM hard line across the opening to simulate the core of the radiator. Once painted, the screens were installed as well as the water overflow tank, and another oil overflow breather tank.

The kit headers had to be slightly modified to fit, and once that was done, they were shot with several shades of Alclad, and are ready to be installed.

And finally, the kit dash was cleaned up, shot semi-gloss black, and decaled. The CF is from SMS, and the Summit and KB decals came from a Slixx Drag sheet. The gauge decals are from a JWTBM Nascar sheet, and I added a set of turned aluminum rings.

Up next will be final engine details, and hopefully installing the engine for good!

I am sorry if it was asked before, but do you work with those cars in real life (real cars)? It is simply amazing to see this much details all over.

You are a sick man Mr. Kemp. That is as usual amazing, I still think you have a shrink gun that you and Dave mail back and forth.

Re: WIP:Greg Anderson's Vegas General NHRA Pro Stock

Thanks guys! Hopefully I'm not boring you with the updates. I've got a deadline looming, so I'm trying to work as fast and clean as possible. It's finally starting to feel like things are falling into place!!

Big progress last night. The engine is finally installed for good. With it in I was able to mount the headers, add the carbs, and finish intalling the fuel lines. Once again I used Pro Tech braid and fittings. The carbs are also Pro Tech's new Demon carbs. They were very easy to install and detail. Highly recommended. Once the fuel lines were all plumbed to the carbs I started adding the water lines to the heads. These will go into a junction block, and eventually the top of the radiator. Still plenty to do in the engine bay, but it's getting there! As always, thanks for looking.

Clay, you never cease to amaze me with these detailed builds! I love the way this is coming together. Everything looks so real...but I guess that's the point, huh?

Stunning work. It's so clean for the amount of detail that has gone into it.
