Re: WTF have I done...
We were planning to bring it to the local Import event next Saturday, but with all the setbacks and our unwillingness to rush the project too much, it'll be another couple weeks.

Re: WTF have I done...
POSR site is back up. If someone wants to, this thread can get moved to the Projects forum so I can find it when I feel the need to update.
The smaller turbo is installed, but it's not very small. It's a journal bearing GT4294 that I picked up for a good price on NABR. Took some doing to mate it with our manifold, but it's bolted in. Pics on the site. I have the 4 inch exhaust built, just need to break the tack welds, clean it up, seam weld it, and paint it. I'll have more pics of that on the site later, but some early pics are there. Unfortunately when we started it up there were pinhole leaks in the radiator. WTF. No dyno yet. Repairing that core isn't really feasible, so it's time for another 600 dollar custom race radiator. The import event is this saturday, so it's not looking too good. Best case scenario I get a radiator by Wed (year right), Dyno/tune it on thursday, and bring it to the track Saturday with no shakedown runs behind us, which will suck and we'll probably do Run Only in that case. Alternator is dead too. What a pain in my ass...

Re: WTF have I done...
Damn Kevin, that sucks. Good luck with it though, I cant wait to see what times it can put down! Also, glad to see your site is back up, there was a couple times I was going to it in the past couple months and it was down.

Re: WTF have I done...
I think by the time we get this thing running well, and get decent at driving it, the season will be over up here. Probably have to head south in November. I'll post up where and when we're going if we do, in case any members are local to the area and want to come laugh at us...

Re: WTF have I done...
No dyno again this week, more set backs. As we get closer and start testing more systems, the more broken shit we find. Yesterday I tried to power up the AEM Gauge type WBO2 controller for the first time, it's dead. Luckily my room mate is going to let me steal my old Techedge unit back, which has been running every single day for at least the last 5 years. It really does pay to get a unit built with quality components, not some POS stuffed into a little 52mm guage casing.

Re: WTF have I done...
Update from late last week. Radiator 16an outlets welded on. Disconnected the upper radiator line from the water neck and filled the system from there. Kicked the pump on with hose disconnected to make sure it circulates fluid; it does. We'll add that remote filler neck later so we can fill it completely and so it will self bleed air.
With an adjustment to the throttle body it idles well. Let it run for a long time, coolant temps held right around 200. The wideband that worked in Ron's car only reads mid 14s, and the red LED blinks like it thinks it's still warming up. WTF is it with this car and WBs... I was thinking that it probably won't read right at idle in a foot long 4" pipe, but the blinking LED indicates a problem. I'll try the sensor from the EVO later. I didn't play with it too much, but it looks like the car will build some boost on the transbrake at least. Somewhere up around 5-6k rpm it moved the boost gauge needle 2 or 3 pounds. I'll mess with it some more later when a working alternator is installed, but between tuning and cam gear adjustments I think we'll be fine. Going to install the nitrous this week just in case. Hoping to at least have new dyno numbers by friday, but I've said that before.

Re: WTF have I done...
Pics of the upper radiator hose can be seen here. I'm extremely pleased with how this came out! Nitrous is installed, but I swapped the jets around and disconnected and plugged the fuel line, basically turning it into a 45hp dry shot to run with AEM providing the fuel. The GT42r will only use like 60-70% of the 1600s, so there is plenty of headroom.
Found out I had to raise the idle because the timing was way off. Synced up the timing in AEM and it runs much better and 400 rpm higher, lmao. Last week I converted the AEM over to version 1.19, which I'm glad is now behind me... The timing belt got hosed, so that's been replaced, and I made some new bolts to hold the damper pulley on. Alternator wasn't charging even after replacing it. Turned out to be the excitation wiring, that's all be rectified. At this point it starts and runs well, doesn't over heat or stall or any other BS, holds fluids, no issues. I'm pretty confident that it will see the dyno this coming week. Already made an appointment, which says a lot. Keep everything you've got crossed...
