Re: Your feelings about the Pit Bull

Not exactly on topic but..

A couple months back i saw a guy on a bike getting chased by a couple of black labs. I coudnt tell if they were just being playful or what, but the dude on the bike looked like he was in fear of his life

Re: Your feelings about the Pit Bull

I'll throw in my 17cents worth on this, though I havent read all 30 posts...

I right now own 3 pits, wouldnt trade for any other.
I have owned several over the years and I have yet to have or see any uncalled for attacks or generaly agressive behavior.
Though my pits get training, not a beating like most people I see.

As with any animal if you treat it bad they will get you back in the end(no pune intended).
And this is why IMO they get the bad rap. The owners are just as much to blame for thier behavior good or bad.

Though I wouldnt mess with my pits, and feel sorry for anyone who breaks into my shop. They would probly be scarred for life if not dead by the time the cops arrive.

But it wouldnt matter if I had Pits, German Shepards, or Beagals, they'd be trained and taught to gaurd when asked.

and remember dont kick at the bears

He was still a puppy but he was twice her size and she chased his ass all around the house. I wish I still had the cell phone video of it all She's nice to us though... unless we sit in her chair

Re: Your feelings about the Pit Bull

Just since we're on the topic, and I didn't read the vast majority of posts in this thread to see if this was already brought up...

Michael Vick apparently knew Pit Bulls were the @ssholes of the dog world, considering 5/6 of his operation consisted of them: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,289693,00.html

Re: Your feelings about the Pit Bull

i wouldnt call pit bulls the assholes of the dog world.
there are many other dogs that are just as bad if not worse to other dogs

Re: Your feelings about the Pit Bull

Well, Being that I own a Pit and my grandmother owns one I have to put my two cents in.. First off, I thought it was funny someone brought up something about Pomerenians, I think I saw in the news a few years back how a Pomerenian had killed an infant in the crib. Pretty crazy stuff, but of course you tend not to hear too much about other dogs when they attack someone. But of course as soon as a Pitbull attacks someone, Its all over the news like they found Osama. Then of course everyone brings up any dirt they can find or start going off about all these other attacks. Yet, no one ever looks into it to find out what provoked the dog to attack in the first place. Yea the Pitbull bit your kid, maybe if he wasnt throwing rocks at it, he wouldnt have gotten bit in the first place. It pisses me off that people can be so ignorant. When my dog "Casper" was a puppy, I took him to a park to play with him, I had sooo many people come up to me and say "OH He's SOOO Cute!!" and then they would play with him and talk to him like he was a little baby. Then of course they would have to ask "What kind of dog is he?", I would tell them "He's a Pitbull" and they would just get this disgusted look on their face and say "Oh.." and leave. Im like wtf!?!?! You were fine with him not 2 seconds ago, but yet now that you know what kind of breed he is, you dont want anything to do with him. My dog is 1 yr 1/2 and has the greatest temperment. I wouldnt doubt though that if something happened to me or someone was hurting me he would be right there to defend me. He loves to play fetch with his squeaky ball and run around like a bat outta hell with it. I've had other dogs before and by far, he has the best temperment, is the most loving, and loyal dog I have ever had. My grandma has had hers for 16 years now, and I have yet to see her "just attack for no reason" or "attack their owner for no reason". I love Pitbulls and I think unless you've had one as a pet, and dealt with one first hand, you have no room to talk bad about the breed.
