After the problems I had clear coating the McLaren I think I'll give it a miss on this one Dave.I value my sanity. To be honest the decals are quite good anyway so I've just give them a quick rub over with Tamiya wax to bring up a bit of a shine.

Re: W.I.P Tamiya Mitsubishi Lancer VI WRC

Well this will be the last update as such before I put the model in the completed projects section. It's as good as done really, just needing the rear lights and the rear boot catches which I will finish tomorrow. The reason it was not done today was the rear lights were such a terrible fit and whilst cleaning them up to make them fit better I wore all the paints off,so they need re-spraying.I think the sheer build up of paint with all the layers of clear etc, made them fit badly, not the kits fault.
The front bumper fitted really well.I used a minimum of liquid cement (the rapid drying kind) to join it to the body. It's really just rested on at the end and not joined properly like the Tamiya instructions suggest.I felt a better fit could be achieved by taking this route.

The 'APU' logo came out brilliant.(thanks to Jon MW for the link to the APU website) I printed the centre section on clear decal paper, then used a sharpened piece of brass tubing to cut out the white circle from trim film.

I'll post up some better pics tomorrow in the completed section when I get the lights done.If the weather is good I'll take them outdoors. Please leave some feedback.Any comments, questions or suggestions welcome.

Very nice, Steve

Your own decals are very well made, which decal paper brand do you use ? and which clear coat over it ?

I'm not sure of the exact brand Phil.It just has Inkjet Clear or Inkjet White printed on the back in blue writing.I get it from Crafty Computer Paper,a web based store in the UK.Here is a link to their website.http://craftycomputerpaper.co.uk/ I use Microscale Liquid decal film applied with a large flat sable brush to seal in the ink on the decals before use.Usually 3 coats is enough and it dries in minutes.

Thanks for the reply & the link, Steve.
I've always use can to clear coat my decals sheets... That's probably not the best way but I don't have patience to apply clear coat with brush...
I may try soon to do it with airbrush.
