Not really any stronger than a 6bolt 4g63t from the US. But, I suppose, it would sound cool to say EVO motor to others

I know someone here in the UK who blew up her Evo 2 engine, so she imported an equivalent Eclipse engine [the 6-bolt 4G63T I presume] because it was the same engine but HALF the price of an Ralliart stamped Evolution block.

She's retuned it using Evolution-spec tuning stuff and it's now running 400Bhp with no problems [altho the gearbox synchros are on the way out]

A little long-winded, but hopefully answers your question - the Eclipse block is good enough for an Evolution afterall !

Yeah , and it would fit in an Ev0-2 perfectly. But I beleive the actual Evo engines are all forged internals , versus the American spec low Hp ( 200 - 210 ) 4G63 . Evo's have always run the maximum the Japanese law would allow , 276 Hp. Apparently Mitsu seemed to think that required all forged parts , which is good , but it translates into higher prices.

Of all the poeple here that run the evo blocks I have never heard of them having forged internals. Maybe jsut in the the later versions? At any rate, aside from that, the only advanttage to getting a jdm block over a us block is that sometimes they leave the 510s in, which are a slight upgrade to out 450s, and sometimes they leave the b16g on. Other than that, its much easier to get one local, for me anyway.

I wouldnt know about standard internals, but I suppose Ralliart gotta do something to justify the higher pricetag - but if you're planning on going for big power, chances are you'll change all the internals anyway [like my mate did] so the best bet is to get whatever's easiest to find in your locale

I may be incorrect , I was quoting another source. At any rate , I know for certain the Evo-6 and up have all forged parts. I was quoting from an magazine I read a while back that said all the Evo engines have forged parts. Don't ask which one it was , I have huge stacks of Turbo , SCC , Import Tuner , C/D , and R/T here. It was one of those.
