The LS1 is, if anything, a tad smaller dimensionally than an old smallblock. It wouldn't be the slightest problem. Though you may have to fabricate engine mounts out of scrap styrene if it sits too low or too high.

Interior's just about done, need to put the shifter in still, and add some photo-etch seatbelts. Customer also ponied up the coin for an El Camino photo-etch set, as you can see by the horn cap, door pulls and window rollers there.

Gauges were detailed with art pencils.

Great work on the interior. Do you have a close up of the guages, Id really like to see them? You sure are tearing through these builds lately...awesome work!

I wish... I just don't have the camera or skills to get them illuminated enough to zoom in close enough. That's the best I could do. It's a method I've used for a while now, black art pencil on white gauges, or white pencil on black gauges. Try it on your next build, it really comes out well. Just make sure the pencil is razor sharp, run across the raised areas of the gauge lightly several times, and blow on them to get rid of the excess. Works great!

Yeah I gotta try that, I hate painting interior details...

I think we all do.

Re: WIP: 1965 El Camino LS1

Just basic art pencils. Crayola, or whatever. The finer the quality, the more fine the powder is, so if it's $1.00/box stuff it may not work as well.

Re: WIP: 1965 El Camino LS1

Whew. Paint turned out great! Thanks for everyone's help. I didn't really change anything, sure enough it was just the clearcoat that got rid of all the fog in the paint. It looks gorgeous. As usual my photography isn't ideal, it doesn't really bring out the purple well, but you can see the shine.

Now to get the BMF and photoetch badges

Re: WIP: 1965 El Camino LS1

Bare-metal foil's done. Most of the kit together now... obviously still need to do a ton of engine bay work, and add the photoetch badges to the body. Sidepipes were at the customer's request of course, but I think they look pretty cool. I think I took some slightly better pics and messed with them in photoshop, so you can see the paint shine better
