Re: I need more motivation.

food is fuel for a person
gas is fuel for a car

to lift 400lbs you need fuel
to go 400km/h you need fuel

Fivepoint knows what I mean. All you got was good genetics and a real slow metabolism. How about you fly down here and show me a 415lb deadlift with a immense clean and which ever one you do but for that you will stay here 2 weeks and eat little food. if you can do it I will pay all expenses that it cost you and you can say you are right. If not go home and say I was right.

i never said it little food, i eat lots of food. dont try to read into things. doubt me if you want, it makes no difference to me. im just making a point that what you guys are saying isnt necessarily needed no matter what. when you are on a good program and train hard 4 days a week, it makes a big difference. besides that, i havent lifted weights in over a year, ive gotten somewhat smaller, that was all in highschool.

actually i already did. besides its completely impractical to fly somewhere you jackass. you know that. your probably just mad because your not a good enough athlete to lift anything without cheating. really when you look at it in perspective, on a lift like deadlift, 400 lbs isnt that much. it really isnt. you need to wise up. besides, you were taking what i said and twisting it anyway, i never said without eating which you were harping on. i have been repetedly saying i ate, and still eat, a lot. also last fall i dabbled in some weight lifting when i was at OU, and guess what, i was stronger than before anyway. atleast on bench.

wheres cassiesman when you need him, hes a big guy and was pretty strong. he can confirm, 400lbs really isnt that much when you look at what a lot of guys are doing who are taking a lot of supplaments. also, im definatly not the one acting like a know it all, mr 400lbs is incredible. man i know freshman in highschool that lift that, and im not making that up.

like i said, doubt me if you want, it really makes no difference. i did what you said isnt possible, and whitnessed a freshman do it, one that weighs 145lbs no less. thats all that matters to me.

Re: I need more motivation.

eh...i could deadlift like 350 freshman year. havent really tried it since then. maybe i should add it to my routine tomorro and see. back, shoulders, and traps are tomorro. or not.

10 10 8 6 forward shrugs
10 10 8 6 backward shrugs
10 10 8 6 military press
10 10 8 6 shoulder press
10 10 8 6 inclined dumbell butterflies
3 sets of back machine till failure

how many days a week do you plan on lifting? i assume 3....

well your definatly getting the shoulders and pec minors.

honestly i dont know how much it matters, but the programs ive been on always had you do one core lift, then the ones like you are doing. of course the butterflies and military press will work the same muscles as say... incline bench, which can be considered core i guess. i suggest one thing, do you have access to a roman chair? i love those for abs.

Re: I need more motivation.

first thing first, seriously guys, if you want the ladies, just show you got the $$$, and they will follow, maybe not the super nice girl next door, maybe not a girl you wanna marry and spend your whole life with, but the ones who party, etc, you know what i mean, its common sense, ya? but maybe im confused with what chiquea said, maybe he's looking for a nice girl and have kids, be a family, etc......in that case, you probably dont want to marry a girl because she's addicted to your $$$.

second, deadlift is nothing, are we on the same page here? deadlift how many times? if one time max, then 400 lbs deadlift is like candy, I do a full 90 degree squat 400 lbs my junior year in HS. The bigger guys were doing 500+ lbs on the deadlift machine, some were doing that in reps! Now if we're talking about cleans....then 400 lbs powercleans is a bit hard.

third, chiquea, if you're lifting to GET BIG, thats the wrong way, at least for me, i wouldn't be doing any 10 10 at all, the most i'd probably do if i want to get big is 8, the rest are 6s' and 4s'. Now, if you want to lose weight and/or maintain weight, then doing reps of 10s would be considerable.

rice(er) proves my point also with teh 400 lb thing, thankyou rice(er).

i agree with the second paragraph quited here too. but i think you just trying to get in shape anyway right, not big.

Re: I need more motivation.

this is actually turning to be an interesting thread. yes stang, the reason i chose 10 10 8 6 is for losing weight. i am about 13% BF i believe, and am cutting. taking in more protein, making sure im doing at least 30 min of a sport or lifting a day is great for me. the whole i bring a muscle milk with me when ever i go out with others insead of crap food is helping as well. i am pretty big as it is. ill take a pic with this nice abercrombie shirt i picked up which i thought was cool and my 1st A&F shirt ever. im basically lifting to lose the weight, get more defined, and help for sports as well. i am also lifting 3 days a week. 2 days on of really intense lifting, 1 day rest, then 1 more day, then 3 days off. the days off im ususally doing cardio and working on core. not actual ab exercises, but like running, playing more basketball and such.

stang, roman chair, no. but modifiers are really good for me and leg raises are also good. maybe i should get a thing that tells me my BF. ill like the pic in my new smallest shirt ever, which is a little more motivation to make sure i can stay fitted in it. if love handles start to show in it, i kno i need to start cutting again.

dont use that muscle milk garbage it has so much fat in it, the best protein out there is isopure zero carb, it has tons of protein and no fat at all or carbs in it.

Re: I need more motivation.

I watched the dvd of jay cutler and he talked about a sponsor that make protein ... they blend all three proteins in one which is super nice. Look for the three blends of protein or drink milk before bed.

Re: I need more motivation.

I have a similiar workout plan to what you are doing and it seems to work.

Sunday/Weds is chest and triceps
Monday/Thurs is back and biceps
Tues/Fri is legs and shoulders

We do sets of 10, 8, 6 with increasing weight each time. In about a year I went from 5'6" 135 lbs to about 150 lbs, and my bench has gone up about 40 lbs. Not a huge gain, wish I could get bigger but I seem to have hit a plateau.

you can get bigger but things tend to slow down once you get in good shape with it. what you need to do is switch the reps up from week to week so that you shock your muscles some. what the program i used to be on did was something like 3x5, 5x5, 5.4.3.2.1., 10.8.6. but yeah, you do slow down in improvement after a while but you will still grow some. it also helps if you switch your auxilery lifts up some.
