a subsonic filter is a cut off for low frequencies that you can't here. A subsonic filter is suppose to make your amp run more efficient and less stress on your subs. Like 10 htz. What kind of amp do u have? Is the subsonic filter is adjustable?

It's a Boss

Its the new Boss 3000D amp, It runs 1200W mono at 4ohms, 2200W at 2ohms and 3000W at 1ohm. The subsonic filter is ajustable and so is the lowpass filter. The amp looks pretty good. I was hooking it up in my car but I need some more tools, I have to make a hole in the firewall cause the 4 gauges power wire is damn large. Let's see what this monster is all about. I'll probably finish the work tomorrow and I'll let you know how it sounds.

umm that's a lot of watts. Do u know if that's true watts? If it is and your dropping the ohms on it u may need 0 gauge wire. What is the fuse rating on the amp?

BOOM BOOM

90 AMPS in the amplifier and 60 amps from battery. For now , I only have 1 subwoofer so I'm not really worried about the wires. I'm worried about blowing the sub out of the box I dunno if thats the true watts I'm getting. I don't really think so but I just paid 260$ for that amp, brand new, delivery included, and it's probably enough to run 2 kappas perfect 12.1 so I'm happy. I'm running the wires right now, my car lost some weight. HEY did anyone ever lissen their cd's in a car without seats and carpets ???? IT SOUNDS LIKE A HALL AND A 1000W STEREO SYSTEM 4 REAL . I'm not even sure if I'll put anything back in my car hehe. I was amazed about the sound quality when it's just open space in the car .

Have the box custom built to Infinity specs so you get maximum bass:sun:
Your amp should be ok...I dont know about 1200 watts though. What did you pay for the amp?

Thumbs up 260 $$$$$$$$$$$

Well, It might not give me 1200W at 4ohms, but it has to be close. I don't think that they could sell an amp and claim better specs. I had a great deal on it so I'm a lucky guy. Normal price of this amp is around 500$ - 650$. I bought a JVC KD-SH99 MP3/CD player from the same person (brand new) for only 260$ total too. The shit was on the market for 400$ + shipping. The radio sounds great , so I imagine the amp isn't going to be defective. Well, I'm almost done with the cables, all I need is a hole to run my power wire thru the firewall. What could I use (tool) to test the amps capabilities ???? And do I need a capacitor, how do they work and whats the mesuring unit of FRAD or FRAT equivalent to Watts ??? Thanx for all the help guys. Later.

Maximadave

the price sound very reasonable...
how much do you charge for the labor tho?
and do you take plastic?

AAAAAA, What A Pain!!!!!

Hey Dave, I emailed you a while ago asking about different cd changers. You said that the RF wasnt so bad so I bought one. I am in the middle of installing the damm thing and now I am stuck. I got it to power on and play, but it sounds all staticy. I think it is because it doesnt have a regular antenna input.

So the controller has an antenna input and output. for the car antenna to go into and out to the radio. However, there is no antenna as far as I could see. Do you know what to do? I am getting realllllllllly pissed at this thing and I am about to throw it out the fin window!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Helllpp!!!!!!

Thanks,
Marc

3000 watts, I doubt it. If you have 90 amps in fuses and 12 volts power you have a maximum potential of 1080 watts assuming 100% efficiency which Class AB amplifier are around 60% (good ones) and 75-80% for class D amplifiers. Even if you had 14.4 volts from your car, the maximum potential is only 1296 Watts of power in so let's say it a class D @ 80% @ 14.4 Volts from your car then you would have a maximum potential of around 1036.8 watts. This is the most power your amplifier could make on a continuous basis.

A far cry from 3000 watts.

Peak power is another story. Music is not a continuous signal but a dynamic one. That's unless you listen to that long ghetto bass music. For peak power double it. This is because a fuse is rated to handle twice the current for around 5 seconds.

Even so your peak power would be limited to the 60 amps from your battery fuse. 60*12*.8*2=1152 watts at 12 volts to a maximum peak power of 60*14.4*.8*2=1382.4 before the battery fuse would blow.

For power wire, since the amp has a 90 amps current protection, a 4 gauge wire of good quality will work fine. When it doubt use Monster Cable. A little more expensive but worth it.
