If you're going kit car, get a tube frame car, not Fiero based. Fieros have a transverse engine, and the GT40 had a longitudinal engine, which makes for a better distribution of weight, and stronger transmissions are available.

For instance, use a Ford 418ci smallblock with a Porsche G50 6 speed transaxle... 500hp on pump gas, and you can still run nitrous
