eh...i suppose i can see where your coming from. it would just seem to me that the car itself would/should be the only factor in determining the year denotation. Otherwise, how else will a shop/dealership know what part is needed? Take for example my 1993 VR-4. The VIN history on CARFAX shows it was actually sold in 1994, meaning it would register as a 1994 vr4 in europe. Now, I'm sure i dont need to tell most of you all the parts differences between the 2 years, asthetically and mechanically. I would think this would pose a major problem.

They dont necessarily use years in those points. They could either use manufactuaring date or MKI or MKII.
