Re: Test driving the Redline. dealer was nuts!

There's nothing wrong with a Miata, as long as you race it. Basically as long as you have a TireRack banner on the windshield even for everyday driving, you're fine.

Maybe I don't want to shove it?!

They do come with that little paddle shift thing Pontiac has.. the "Tap Shift"...

Just... paddle shifting a 4 speed auto seems rather... lacking of the sporty feel.

tap tap tap.... ok we're done... damn.

I just looked through all the results from the Autox Pro Tour Finals in Kansas City, and not one 3000GT was entered. Guess they're not good in auto-x

Re: Test driving the Redline. dealer was nuts!

Maybe VR-4's are allergic to kansas.

I would definetly take a Miata, im still sour about the one i missed out on a year ago. It had basically no rag top, and no shifter. but i still wanted it

That doesn't mean they are not good. A 3000gt may not have been entered because they are much rarer than most the cars entered and they might not be the best choice for auto x for a pro. For a 3800 lb car they do well. In fact they could beat a lot of cars in auto x, it just depends on the driver. In the end they may not be pro auto x material but they are still good for the average Joe which most people who do auto x are.

there not the best, but there pretty good, and sometimes do pretty damn well
its pretty easy to shave off 200lbs, making it lighter than a supra

http://www.3si.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=63

if you got any questions ask here or do some research
it is very rare for anyone to use a 3000gt in autox, obviously its automatically cancelled out in peoples brains because of the weight, and thats its pretty rare car to find. let alone one thats working well enough for racing.

but again when they do compete, there right there with the rest of the best depending on the driver of course, wich goes with any autox racer

Re: Test driving the Redline. dealer was nuts!

So you give me a link to a 3000GT autocrossing forum that has 0 posts?

IMO, what makes a car good for auto-crossing, is the times that the car will run with a pro driver.
