Re: 56XP GT pics!

I was looking for the appropriate thread to ask my question about the GT.
This thread is about the pics, but I hope it is fine anyway.

Looking at the GT brochure, the engine capacity is 6064 cc, which is the capacity of the S70/2, while the F1 GT GTR features the destroked 5990 cc S70/3.
I find it surprising because I would have guessed that they would use the 5990 cc on the road version too. Any reason not too?

If I'm not mistaken, the F1 GT roadcars were regular F1's that essentially had modified bodies. So, the engine, interrior, etc, were the same as the roadcar.

Re: 56XP GT pics!

For the interior, the trim is different.

I think the only reason they would have done it is if the rules required it. Otherwise for road use the 6.1L was already tuned for proper emissions and such and it would have been an extra effort to detune that slightly smaller displacement race engine in order to make it road legal as well.

The other major component lacking on the F1 GTs that you will find in a longtail F1 GTR is the sequential shifter. Again, adapting that to the road car would have been a real challenge as the shaft that is used to actuate the gear changes on the GTR runs right back through where the passenger seat is located.

Re: 56XP GT pics!

Thanks, that makes perfect sense for the emission regulation compliance.

About the sequential mechanism, I was not aware that it was so cumbersome.
and then I found the illustration on this picture:
