ROFL!

That has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Still funny though, I laughed my arse off.

FOR THE THREADSTARTER.

POLICE YOUR OWN, we do and our spots are not congested with the idiots i mention below.
Blame the idiots who put the cops on alert, its your fellow import drivers that have as of the past say 6 years caused alot of shit on the street, exhaust is way too loud, tinted out windows, LOUD stereo's and peeling out in JAM PACKED parking lots full of other import owners that tresspass and litter worse then a bum.

I just sold a 400+ hp v8 RWD car and i can tell you the cops are more apt to wave especially in an older car then to look for violations. That and the AV plates helped alot.

Heres an idea, obey the law.

Im sure CALI has a front plate law..................maybe they are just doing their jobs?

Police are supposed to use their discretion. This is because it is not always obvious what obeying the law actually means.

I can tell ya most judges are much more sensible than cops. If everyone actually exercised their right to a court hearing instead of paying fines they thought were unreasonable, we would all be living in fairer societies wouldn't we?

Would asshole/bully cops (the small % there is) think twice if they knew they would end up in court in 2 weeks explaining to the judge why they thought that citation was necessary...and then have 5 more to go to that following week. His/her superiors would become mighty suspicious about their practice wouldn't they?

People should start exercising their IMPORTANT rights rather than bitching about flag burners...that's what REAL democracy is about. None of this "I love my country" bullshit.

Re: Do you think import tuners get unfairly profiled by police?

hahahaha, so what, I digressed a little....but IMO it does fit in with what I wrote. It goes on about how if people exercised their important rights (like a fair trial), then cops would be less inclined to stomp on them by being assholes.

Back on topic!

I do agree that it's because most tuners are utter dickheads who have given everyone a bad name.

They go around with their doof-doof music and do burnouts in public areas...and the rest of us who just want to go for a drive or meet up with some friends to show off some new mods have all the nice hangout spots closed off or swarmed with police.

I don't mind putting up with the profiling if it will get rid of the assholes. However, I don't think it will.

Re: Do you think import tuners get unfairly profiled by police?

The law is the law, no matter how major or minor it is, hell we cant park on the streets between 2 and 5am from nov-march, you do you get a ticket, its the law.

Ive been busted MANY times for no front plate, i finally gave up and put one on to stop all the fines and tickets and missing work for court dates.
I'm just simply saying......obey the law and you will be fine.

Cops might be assholes behind the badge, but you are in Los Angeles.......what do you expect? a cup of tea with your ticket?

Only way to get rid of the assholes is to start policing your own, it has worked with us in chicago, should work everywhere else, after all outside of california, illinois is 2nd in dumbasses.

(for the record i was born and raised in socal, Im jsut tired of the idiot drivers out there that fvck it up for the rest of us.)

Re: Do you think import tuners get unfairly profiled by police?

But what I'm saying is even if you obey the law, sometimes you still get harassed.

We're not talking abot black and white crap like if you have a number plate, but grey areas.

Stuff that cops can let you go or not.

Re: Do you think import tuners get unfairly profiled by police?

I know what you are talking about, that boils down to laziness to be 100% honest, if they dont want to waste their time writing a ticket, going to court, extra paperwork ect ect they wont move from their cars their entire shift.
But then again like stated there are gung ho gi joe muthabadge's out there that want nothing more then to play above the law.

No, I'm not EVEN talking about laziness.

There are plenty of laws written like "offensive if the reasonable person would consider it to be offensive" or "too loud if the reasonable person would consider it to be too loud".

If they are feelin gung ho, they are perfectly legally allowed to go "hmm, I think the reasonable person would think your exhaust is too loud" and they are perfectly doing their duty to let you go as well!

I'm talking grey where if they want to be an asshole they can get you but if you go to court, the judge may very likely say, don't you think your idea of the reasonable person is slightly warped. And that goes for vice versa.

Everything is different everywhere, cops around here due to the high population of unliscensed drivers and illegals that drive not knowing whats going on are assholes, IF, you give them a reason to be.

But They will check a car out here while impounded or if you dont possess 50 state legal tags for your car parts they can court order you to remove and replace.

as far as front others go, if its in the books its fair game.

hey guys, relax, most cops are just doing their job, behind the badge, they're regular people just like you and me, trying to live a life, raising a family, etc..

Re: Do you think import tuners get unfairly profiled by police?

if you think it's tough in an import car, try riding a sport bike. i don't think anyone gets more scrutiny from the police than us.
it's like detroit muscle said, it's the few idiots that ruin it for everyone else.

First off, your statement holds a flaw as far as validity. Look up the political era, and how police officers behaved back then (i.e. bootlegging themselves, aiding and abetting criminals/criminals with badges/graft). I have a bachelor's degree in criminal justice (yes I know about due process, exclusionary rule, etc.....).

I don't have to be a conformist due to a stupid law that aids a camera to give me a ticket when i'm going through a redlight. That's what the front license plate is primarily there for. I choose not to put on a front license plate, as it messes with the asthetics of my car. I'm sure they won't get rid of the front license plate law, eventhough there is a petition to get rid of it, as it has generated alot of revenue for the departments.

Re: Do you think import tuners get unfairly profiled by police?

Its not just import tuners its any sport compact tuner.

My car came from the factory with a borla muffler, bright yellow and red decals.....I have been pulled over atleast 4 times for the muffer (I have papers from Ford that show its legal and an OEM part) and even more because if I pass a person the cops seem to assume I must be flying (even if Im only doing say 4 or 5 over).

My mother's friend was driving her sons Civic Si (03 black w/ black tint, exhaust, intake, ect..) when leaving PA she crossed the bridge to NJ, and she was not even up to the speed limit yet and a cop pulled her over. She took down the window and the cop was shocked to see a 50yo lady driving....

When she asked why he pulled her over he gave her BS about the tint being to dark for NJ...which doesnt matter when its a PA car. The point being that the cop thought he could have fun fucking with a kid in a tuned car just because he could.
