you're missing the point. the way you present your post makes it seem as if you condemn the use of the word in terms of it's offensiveness. The topic at hand is whether or not the term is, as it is used in recent context, racist slander, particularily towards asians and imports. Your post seems to take offense to the word because of its offensive nature, which is justified, but then you might as well attack the term POS which is just as offensive. My point is the term is not racist, and as for being offensive, i'm pretty sure alot worse things could be said about a car so it's pointless to ban the usage of such words as proper street-racing ettiquette (sp?).

I use the term rice for any car, import or domestic, that:

1. Has an assload of stickers on it, double if they don't have the parts related to the stickers.

2. Even worse, badging. Taking badges or stickers from other cars for things your car could not possibly have. Example; I saw a TRD sticker on a Ford Tarus station wagon.

3. Over done body kits, wings, interior, and wheels. Overdone to the point it looks ugly and they are just trying to hard to make their car something it's not.

Rice is a term that I use for cars that are all show and no go, or they have just gone too far with the show. My car looks stock but it can still move. I like that in a car, but body mods can be done tastefully. At that point I do not call it rice. I must ask, how is that racist?

well for starters before submitting your opinion perhaps you should glance at the other responses. If you did you'd see why it doesn't refer to asians or asians way of life, it's absurd to make such an assumption.

But this is ridiculous; so you're saying only import drivers can use it!? Wow...does anyone remember a case where a politician used the term "nigga" when speaking to an African American woman? This is the exact same thing. How is it fair to persecute one for using such a term when the people it so called "offends" uses it themselves?? It is ludacris to think that only import drivers (which mind you knows no race) can call other cars rice, and anyone else who does isn't talking about the car, they're referring to asians and imports...No. And speaking of generalizations, you seem to think all imports are asian. What about ferrari, porsche, lamborghini? Reread the thread, and remember we're discussing how the word is racist as used in context TODAY, where mustangs are prone to have huge wings and stickers just as much as a civic is.

alotta people been sayin that rice means the car has more show than go. We all obviously know that. Im sayin that calling a slow car rice is offensive 2 azns. It means azns are synonymous to slow cars. A bunch of people have been posting wut rice means and thats not wut this thread is about. Also i hear people sayin that when they use tha word rice, they dont mean to isult azns, they mean its about the car. I guess its kinda like tha word N*gga. Sumtimes people use it as an insult and sumtimes its used like "brotha". Theres this big controversy wether its racist or not. Its sorta like tha word rice. I think its better to jus use a different word without any racial tie-ins and just avoid this whole thing. Nowhere in my neighborhood, or even in my city has anyone ever taken the word rice, or rice rocket to offense!!

If anything it would make them smile cause they say hey my rice rocket is beating up your silly ass (whatever car it may be) usually the rice rocket cost half the money and blows shit away, but to mee and alot of others when we say rice....it means all show no go, swamped with stickers all over, exhaust loud enough to make 80 man have a heart attack, and remember that this applies to every race, not just asians.
