Re: PROGRESS: 2005 C6 Corvette
Since the oil pan is flat and doesn't have any fins or other such obnoxiousness (in the eyes of scale modelers, anyhow), it would be a simple exercise in shaping some styrene. Laminate a couple to a few sheets of styrene sheet that have been cut to rough shape, and smooth it with sanding block, files, and sandpaper. Use a round file to sand out the depresion for the oil filter, and use bits of styrene strip for the sides where there is a distinctive physical composition or structure of something, especially with respect to the size, shape, and arrangment of its parts. Use some small rod for the drain plug, and drill out the indentations where the bolts go and spot some more slices of rod in there (if you feel the need). There you go. Easy peasy, under an hour of work minus drying time.

Re: PROGRESS: 2005 C6 Corvette
Despite the remarkable progress from last night, this one won't see completion until the end of August at the soonest. The body will still need a lot of work because of all the trash in the paint, if I don't have to strip it completely. Here's hoping that's not the case; I'd probably just buy another kit and start over on the body. Strangely, the Viper I bought on a whim and had no plans of even starting until late in the year will probably be my one and only completed model from the summer. I know I finished the GSX, but I'd started it two years ago so I don't consider it a summer model!

Re: PROGRESS: 2005 C6 Corvette
This paint is a trash magnet. Various parts of this car will be painted black because I am tired of sanding and repainting. This is as good as it gets. If only this paint wasn't so bad about getting crap in it...it's the smoothest paint I've ever laid down, it needs no polish, clear, nothing. *sigh*
