extremely similar styled car (uncanny), made by the same company, and cheaper.....marketing standpoint alone, i think its safe to say........well, anyway.. im not gonna get into an arguement about camaros.. get a NOVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my friend has an older 'stag (the "boxy" looking ones) with a 351 Winsor in it...and like, 12 grand worth of engine work.. my brother said he stomps on the gas, and the car instantly turns sideways. not saying a stang isnt strong/cant be strong or whatever.. but...personally i dont like them.
too "generic" of a sports car..i think they are just too big..i like smaller cars.

And then both of you guys w/ you sewing maching powered cars get passed by a moped w/ a 5hp Engine and he goes on to put 5 car lengths on you. Racing an EX vs a DX is like a 10 speed bike vs a golden retriever.

Correct. It isn't however that much more of a performance vehicle in the terms of the quarter-mile though. A 13.4 for an SS vs. a 12.9 for a C5...Not that huge of a difference.

Personally I HATE Mustangs. In my area at least, there are entirely TOO MANY OF THEM! From V6's to Saleens, I litereally see at least 10 of them every time I get on the road! And as far as Camaro's go, once again, here at least, they're not very common. Especially V8 Camaro's. My old Camaro(some of you remember me having it when I was on the old ph)would roast the tires in third if I punched it from 50. The aftermarket support for the Camaro is almost unparalled and as with most V8's, you get a lot more for your money than you do with an import motor. Good example of this is with the i/h/e bolt-ons. For a typical I4 Honda motor, you would see gains in the 10 hp range. In a Z28, with less money you would see anywhere from 35 - 50 hp. And the parts are just plain cheaper. But yes, in the end, I think this all comes down to exaclty how much more you are making.

Is it just me or is a guy driving a Civic Hatchback calling ANYTHING "generic" funny? "My K-mart clothes make your Walmart clothes look tacky!"

As far as Mustangs... 03 Cobra+pulley=mid 400s hp, bullet proof 6 speed. Good brakes... Suspension's okay, but not great though... Love it or hate it. The f-bodies are very fast and cheap, but there's a reason why their aren't all that many around.

The other suggestions in this thread are pretty good also.

i dont believe ive personally attacked you, but im glad you have the gaul to do it to me.
by generic, i mean, people buy them because... its a "sports car"
without perhaps looking for something less common. imo, a "sports car" isnt something you drive to the local ford dealership to buy....a real sports car comes off a boat from italy or something..perhaps it could be called a "muscle car" (mustang) but even that to me is stretching it....i like to leave that lable open for badassified NOVAs and Chevelles.....and OLD (nice) mustangs. old mustangs are nice as hell, i was actually looking into getting one (elderly friend of the family, BRAND NEW condition..it was like, a 65 or something)
hell my friends mom drives a new mustang.....guarentee you that she doesnt even know what a horsepower IS, she just wanted a "sports car"
hey asshole, what exactly am i driving? a generic small car with a cargo area that gets impecable gas milage.........? k, thought so.

Guys no need for hostility......everyone has there own opinion but heres some facts for you guys.

1: a real sports car doesn't have a solid axle ie: mustangs have solid axles like the camaros, corvettes have independent rear axles which classifies them as sports cars...even the nsx has a independent rear.

2: The insurance agencies classify mustangs as sports car based only upon the Horsepower

Here read this I pulled this off of a website.

Sports Cars—Facts

There are 36 model lines of sports cars for sale on the U.S. market this year.

So what exactly is a sports car? Is it a compact open-seater with no luggage space and a raspy exhaust note? Or is it a sleek and powerful 200-mph exotic? Depending on whom you ask, you may find it's both, or neither.
Generally speaking, sports cars are performance-oriented cars targeted at auto enthusiasts. They're typically 2-door coupes or convertibles with powerful engines, sport-tuned suspensions and sleeker body styles.

That said, the essence of sports cars is not really within a particular body style or drivetrain configuration, but more in what they do for the driver.

I'm not trying to attack you or some sort of internet pissing contest. Its just that your comments struck me as funny and I satired them. Calm down.

Yeah, a lot of people do. A lot of people buy Integras, RSXs, 240sx's, and every other "sporty" car for the same reason. Most people in this world aren't car enthusiests, but a lot of them want "nice" cars.

Whatever is a sports car and whatever is a muscle car to you is fine with me. I don't consider a sub 200 hp, fwd car a sports car, but a lot of other people do.

Damn, you sure told me. Didn't mean to step on the 3 door extension of your manhood.

The Cobra has had an independent rear suspension since 99. But at the same time look at Trans-Am and many World Challenge cars... Live axles but they will run circles around most anything in their power/weight class on a road course.
