Re: Gordon Murray at ArtCenter recap...

hey peloton

long time gone since i made my last contribution, i still check in here once or twice a week, often more...

i wondered, what have you asked gordon murray about his experiences with xp3, such as speeding tickets, top speed on public road or track etc, what does he use the car for? is he really using it as a supercar you could use everyday?

greets

maarten

Wow, the actual Gordon Murray. That must have been so incredible to actually be sitting next to the guy and having an actual face to face conversation with him. MAN. Gordon Murray and Jerry Weigert sitting at one table is an incredible scene.

Re: Gordon Murray at ArtCenter recap...

This must have been a great day for you guys. I hope tvrfreak will be back here soon. Peleton, have you asked Gordon any questions about F1 GT? We need to get more pictures of it from Scotland photoshoot. I have not been here for long time, so I do not know, if somebody already confirmed, that 56XPGT was used for this photoshoot, but I believe it was. I can help you with some info and pictures of this car if you want. And I will post pictures of that Rosso article, when I will find them.

No, it's not a road car. It's Steve O'Rourke's longtail GTR - #024 - that was raced under the Harmon Kardon and EMKA EMI liveries in the British GT Series. Prior to the car be raced by Steve, it was one of the FINA GTRs.

Re: Gordon Murray at ArtCenter recap...

been gone for a while, and look at the progress here!!

Peleton, congrats on the visit, would i be wrong to say that GM is like your biggest idol?

any way dude, i have a question for ya, was reading the thing on the website you guys created for the re-encounter of the convention, it was mentioned in there that the McLaren F1 doesn't have a Flywheel? can you explain that?

and also this has sort of puzzled me for a while now, what is the difference between the LM and the normal GTRs? from the photos i have they all the same, but prehaps you can tell me the different, exteior any way.

Cheers pel

Dragging this back to the top with a photo of a one-page on Gordon Murray in the Oct 2005 Car&Driver magazine that discusses this event, future plans for Gordon Murray's own company, and how McLaren/Mercedes may salvage their own plans to do a baby-SLR.

Enjoy the read.

Re: Gordon Murray at ArtCenter recap...

Thanks for that Erik. A nice read.

Did Murray really design the Ariel Atom? If so, I've driven a Murray creation!

I don't believe he had a hand in the Atom - not sure where C&D came up with that comment.

Here is a scan I made:

The article has several small inaccuracies, such as the Mclaren's 239mph top speed, total of 60 sold (107 I believe, with 64 road versions, and including one spare chassis), and understated the Le Mans 1995 wins. It is also stated that the Mclaren was designed in the mid 90s. The line drawing is pretty nice though.
