Re: streetfight video

With ya there drunken, there was no need for the two postures I saw, but then mayhaps he read his opponent as no real threat, so he decided to just back the homie off. OR, to "represent "to the blonde chick that was in the first part of the video.

He could have just walked away, that widdle biddy wanna-be punk-gansta likely wouldn't have followed up too much. After all, white boy had him by about 40 lb.'s and about a three inch reach advantage. But, then, homie seemed the type to do something real stupid like flash a blade or a cap-fire as the dude walked off.

Re: streetfight video

And, white dude tossed all advantage away by going into his immediate stance, that

1] Alerted homie to something other than expected, so he backed up while trying to figure things out.

2] Never, ever alert an opponent like that, until the time to strike or take stance in defense.

3] Therefore, the white guy is sort of a noob, I would have taken one of homie's bitch slaps to get close enough to push nose into face. Straight fist punch. Knuckles first, to upper lip striking up into nose. Hip rotation to add power, but then I'd be in jail for assault or deadly force or some such shit.

But, homie would never forget how he couldn't breathe without pain.

It always best to walk away, true training will teach that. The art is used in self-defense, when person is in mortal danger. White boy was posturing as much as black boy was. [think camera on them, and don't think they both weren't aware of it].

Re: streetfight video

Drunken, what is your training? Mine is classic and World/american Tae Kwon Do, Budo Kwon Ton Sudo[ not a very well known or used style anymore], and American Judo.

You seem to have an understnading of the arts. Do you think at the end of it all, white guy was just "presenting" to some chick? That's my bottom-line read of him.

Re: streetfight video

i think the kung fu guy was caught in the moment.
he has had training and he's comfortable with what he's done but he didn't seem to know what to do when the other guy isn't playing the same game as he was (very typical of chinese styles).
he acted instinctively, which was to drop into a ready stance which i'm willing to be is what they do before they 'spar' at the club.

there's a world of difference between learning a style of fighting art and learning to use it to to fight.
the chinese styles typically aren't about self defence. they are about fighting to win, pure and simple. no backstep, no retreat, don't stop until you've won.
that's what get's me about the clip.
he dropped into stance (i.e he acted) but he didn't actually do anything other than that.
i can understand the whole man to man thing but still, if you've made that step in your mind to stand and fight, then finish it, don't just strike the pose and wait for the other guy to strike first.
hat is something that i've noticed a lot these days.
classes don't teach people how to make aht first move; they all tend to teach on a basis that you've been attacked which if you're talking about self defence (which is another matter entirely) is too late.

my style?
i am a mutt.
