I can honestly say, Ive maybe been there a handfull of times since Ive owned the car... U ppl act like 100 MPH is nothing...
my mom's old van did better(then again, it did have a 3 liter v6... a 93 Nissan Quest GXE; says "Sport Van" on insurance papers lol ); ive went over 100mph plenty of times(highest was like 115mph; did 100mph-105mph before on a slight uphill with 2 other people in the van also).

also, ive taken my EF to 100mph only about twice; it gets there pretty quick on "mild down-hill slopes" but struggles like hell on hills. imo, a van should be able to take a EF.

Re: odyssey vs. dx hatch

What is funny to me is that people always say " your gonna get a ticket, street racing is bad". My ass, just about everyone here street races. I go just about every sat night. And you know what? I have never seen not one accendent in the past 5yrs. The only one i saw was from a car cutting off another and that was just everyday driving, it just happend on the same night.

As for this post. Don't ask dumb ass ?????? bench reacing is dumb. Get out there and wast your gas racing a minvan to basball practice.

I have a playful run with my brother and a friend everynow and then... But I do not street race... I can count on one hand how many times Ive actually done it... And it never got over 60 MPH... Besides, I wasnt talking about street racing... I was talking about speeds in excess of 100MPH on a daily basis... Its just not safe on a public road... Anything can go wrong, some moron coulda been hauling a load of bricks or something and one fell out onto the hwy, hit that brick at 100MPH and see what happens... An animal could be crossing the road, hit that at 100 MPH... Neither scenario is the driver's fault, but it could be disastrous... And eventually, if u hit those speeds every day, something like that is bound to happen... For me personally, my life, and the life of others isnt worth it!

Driving those kinds of speeds is what makes our insurance go up.

Me speeding is not gonna make your ins go up.

Re: odyssey vs. dx hatch

I disagree. Being around cops all of my life I recall the majority of accidents were related to speeding. Had one last month that killed 5 people when a teen tried to pass someone on a hill at over 100 mph. Killed his sister, his teacher, his friends... He survived though (imagine living with that the rest of your life......)The rest of accidents were from drunk drivers (or drug influenced), tourists not knowing where they are, cell phones while driving, lack of seat belt useage, digging around the car for something, or generally not paying attention (talking with others, eating or reading while drving).

I agree to point however about speeding not making our insurance as high as it is due to also spending time in Germany and various other European areas. Folks there go through much more stringent drivng instruction. They know how to drive!

In short if you're hauling ass, it takes longer to stop and manuever or dodge road debris, keep from hitting someone's kid or pet or crash while trying to haul ass while merging onto the interstate. That's why we pay more insurance.

Re: odyssey vs. dx hatch

I think you people pay outrageous insurance premiums because you don't stay out of trouble. When I was younger and more stupid, I had to deal with that shit... live and learn...

CR50HC, you mention a lot of things that have caused accidents and the big thing I noticed was "not paying attention"...

Did y'all know that if you get in a certain type of wreck it could be "assault with a deadly weapon"? Stay sober, pay attention and race at the track.

Re: odyssey vs. dx hatch

turtle, you're right. I agree with you, if you want to drive fast do it somewhere safe. If you're speeding and others aren't paying attention, things could go wrong real quick.

"....Germany and various other European areas. Folks there go through much more stringent drivng instruction. They know how to drive!"

just b/c you have to pay a high fee and the driving test is harder doesn't mean they can drive any better than people in africa...accidents happen every day for various reasons...speeding is just a minor factor in the whole thing...i drive fast b/c i wasnt to...i normally drive 5-10 over on the street and usually 20 over on the highway...been in 2 accidents...neither my fault and neiter due to speeding...people wern't paying attention...like turtlecrxsi said...if people would pay attention, mind their mirrors and know when not to drive (intoxication) would be less accidents...also knowing when not to speed...like in inclimate weather and heavy traffic...if everyone did the speed limit there would stiff be the same amount of accidents, the severity would be the only thing that dropped

Except for those 40 car pile ups in extreme fog because they just have to go over 100mph...

Re: odyssey vs. dx hatch

I guess accidents are dependant on the driver, condition of the roads, vehicle and people around you. IMO I'd rather remove any hazards from that equation.
