Heroin, breakfast of champions. Goes good in an omlette with some cheddar.

To set things straight, a very recent speed test at the Italian Nardo Oval produced the following results:

1. Edonis (700bhp) >>> 223.5mph
2. RUF R Turbo >>>>> 213.0mph
3. Murcielago >>>>>> 207.7mph
4. Ferrari 575M >>>>> 202.4mph
5. 911 GT2 >>>>>>>> 199.1mph

So there you have it, those are the official results, though i dont think the Edonis counts as a production car, which leaves us (still) with the R Turbo. The Zonda comes in at 205, btw. The Edonis is still not fully developed and looks set to achieve 249mph, or 400km/h. Koenigsegg CC is looking to crack 250mph and i think its itended to be a production car. Until then, RUF is sitting on top of the pile

cheers,
jay

i think they only have 21 or 29 (cant remember which) tubs for the Edonis, and arent planning to buy/make any more, so it wont be a full production car. They still have quite a bit of work to do with the Edonis if i remember rightly

Sorry to but in, but the fastest street legal production car in the world was the 1988 Chevrolet Sledgehammer Corvette made by Callaway it is the fastest PRODUCTION car ever made. Its top is 254.7mph (409.9kph) (its only got the 0-60 of 3.9 tho)
and it was 50 states legal.
if you need to, just look it up, you will be suprised. But top speed does not mean best sports car.
IMHP the Mclaren F1 is the best, but that is another story for another day.

It's legal in most countries of mainland Europe.... This is for production cars , of course you could mod it or another car to go faster , but there are no official cars going faster than that for now at least so this thread doesn't have to go for 20 pages auswrx...
hey septiem. read tom's post. were on about standard production cars. of course a modded car will go faster. the JUN Supra beats that vette, but that is modded. loads of cars will beat the dauer if you invest the money in them, but non, and i mean none, are faster straight from the factory

The Callaway is a production car. Callaway is an official manufacture in the US and in Europe all on its own, not a tuner. Also, Dauer is to Porsche what Callaway is to Chevy. On top of all that Callaway produces about 5 times as many cars as Dauer does in a year. The 962 was a racecar that was modified to run on the road, the Callaway at least is a real road car.
But you are right; this could go on for 20 pages

I sound like a retard asking this, but if the Dauer 962 is this fast, what's the huge difference between it and Vern Schuppan's 962 CR, all 6 of them. I guess that dosen't count as production car though.

BTW, the fastest 'car' in the world is the Thrust SSC attaining a top speed of 763.035 mph (1227.985 kph) for the flying mile run. Roughly 4 times that of the 962.

well the speed 1 was the 'car' they broke the land speed record in.. so i would assume that makes it faster since it holds the speed record..
but i wouldn't call it much of a car....

thrust SSC is the car that holds the outright speed record for a land based vehile. it was set at black rock sands, nevada in 15th october 1997. driven by andy green, and owned by richard noble hit 763. the car has rolls royce spey 102 engines that put out 100,000hp between them!!!

there is a car called the north american eagle in the pipeline that is tipped to break 800mph, but its not been run yet.
