Just wondering; did you spray from the can, or did you de-can it and used an airbrush???

And congrats on your 1st prize!!!

I just sprayed it "straith-from-the-can".

I know some guys decan it to use their airbrush, but to me that takes away all the time-advantage of a can. If I weren't so lazy, I would use my airbrush all the time, but I just hate cleaning it out every time after spraying. I think it's a loss of time, time I could use better by modeling other things. But that's just a personal opinion of course.

I use Tamiya spray-cans for 95% of the parts I paint. Not just for bodies, but for every single little part of any model as well. And it works well or me, so I don't see any reason to change that...

Great build, congrats on the win and iminent publishing!
Doesn't using cans for everything cost a lot? I find an airbrush much more efficient, less wasted paint in overspray.

Probably yes, but as "time is money", I save a lot of time so I can afford to lose some money

Did u use a primer or you just painted it without any priming.
I am about to start with mine Impreza, and i wonder.... i have gray surface primer from tamiya, and spraying Ts50 over that would turn the paint darker, I guess?
What dou you reccomend?

quoted from the FAQ:
"Guiddy wrote a whole thread with step-by-step instructions.
Painting model car bodies! Full instructions! (Yes, you have to use primer!)"

Glad to meet another "straith-from-the-can" modeler. Besides time & money, I'll treat it as a personal practice.

Congratulations on both your win & publish. It'll be perfect if the side mirrors and the rear spoiler were wrapped with carbon fibre. Anyway, nice work! The antenna looks terrific.

Hi Tim,

Congratulations!

Your model is one of the nicest I've ever seen.

Please tell me, how did you put CF declas on rear wing?
The outcome is perfect....

Regards,

Aras

I'm not sure whether I should be answering this question, since I'm not Tim, but ok.

I made 30 templates with Tamiya masking tape and then I applied those 30 decal parts to the wing. Sounds easy, is pretty easy, but it's sure time-consuming : it took me a whole week all together.

After the decals are completely dry, I applied 3 coats of gloss varnish to give the CF-effect a more realistic look.

Well, I cut off the original antennas from their supports, then I drilled out a tiny hole in the centre of those supports, and then I glued pieces of guitar string (thinnest string - high E) in the holes.
