Your power curve is going to be the steepest mofo ever. Centrifugal superchargers are already only really good for top end (as I'm sure you already know, their pressure/rpm graph is exponential). Lowering the compression is only going to make that worse. I'd say go with a positive displacement supercharger if you plan on lowering the compression. Otherwise you're going to have to have real short gears to keep the engine revving between 6500 and 6503 rpm to take advantage of the power.

Thanks Mike for filling in the blanks. 90% of the people that read what I wrote would say I was full of crap.
Your statement is why with the new screwtype superchargers I keep harping on the benefits of a positive desplacement supercharger. Very wide power band and easy to keep in the torque range.
Have we missed anything?

Re: some days are just not my day.....

The problem with a positive displacement charger is, space...... where the hell is it going to fit. With a small 8"X 9" X 6" or 7" system I can place it the AC compressors place under the hood and still be able to run the piping around to the intercooler ( which will be mounted where the intake is currently) Then split into the two pipes to the throttlebodies and then into the engine. So far most of the local shops around here say it cant be done. I say it can be done..... now I am being hard headed but, I am sure of it. I just need to fiind another VG30DE or VQ30DE for cheap thats in good shape that I can set on my engine stand and begin the work on fabing up the mounts for the supercharger and figuring out how all the piping is going to be laid out. Then once its built on a stand I can just swap out engines in my car and have a spare VG sitting on a stand ready to go. So far the way I am seeing it, there is NO WAY I will have this done by the end of this summer or even the end of the year. But I may have it done by next summer, hopefully for next Z-Day. I figure I can snag a decent VG30 short block for around 1500, or less or import a VQ30DE for about 2500, then pick up a Procharger C-2 or a Vortech G series for around 2k, get a front mount 1 intake and 2 out put tubes for around 800, all the piping made for around 500, and the ECU remaping by either Stillen or JWT or anyone one who is willing to even think about it for around 500-1k. I have only run into 1 major problem, finding a pully kit that can let me run a 6-8 rib belt on all my pullies. And I will have to delete the clutch fan and switch to a MUCH more effeicant electric fan and radiator. I may even have to upgrade the oiling system after the modification on the install.

I am shooting at lowering the static compression down to 10:1 or even 9.8:1 and running about 10-12lbs of boost. I should make anywhere from 350-370bhp on 93 octane. Never know, I might be able to pull this off.

I'd bet money it works if you do it like you say. If you can make 14# boost you'll have about 400+HP.

Re: some days are just not my day.....

I have shot emails to Z1 and I am going to call JWT and Stillen and Z1 tomarrow to try and glean some more info out of them on the finer points of the VG30DE and the VQ30DE, if I can get a hold of a VQ30DE for around 2k I would be set all I really need is the short block with crank, I think I can find rods, bearings, pistons and rings that would be better suited to the task than those currently in the Maxima engine. Thats going to be the most expensive and time consuming part is getting the internals built up to my specs and preying they stay together after I am done with them. Hell if I can build a 490WHP 350 Chevy then I can build a 350hp 3.0L.

EDIT: I have been thinking once I have everything figured out and IF I can get this all worked out in my head, I will start a new thread on the total plans for the project, and I already have a name for it, Project Mekagodzilla aka the Super Z.

BTW I am a HUGE godzilla fan, so if ALL my project names come from Godzilla monsters its ok. Worry when I have a Gadzooky project..... that means I have taken a Miata and put a 13B turbo engine it it.

Why Project Meka Godzilla, because Mekagodzilla was supposed to be a improvement on the Godzilla monster and meant to be able to fight him off if needed, but it turned out to only be a slightly less superiour version of the original monster. They ended up working together to fight off a bigger badder monster than either of them could defeat alone. Mekagodzilla was made by man, Godzilla was made by nature, and you cant improve on nature. So I think its fitting in a way, I cant improve on Mr. Ks design but I can try and make one as equal to it and different, after all I am just a man not a god yet.

Re: some days are just not my day.....

OK sofar this is where I stand on the project. I can find a VG30DETT for anywhere from 1500-4500 about the same milage on them both, one is not sure the turbos are still functional. I really dont care if they are or not, I just wanted them for selling on ebay or somewhere like that, to try and offset the cost on the build, I also want the engine for the lower compression ratio, and basic stuff, I really dont care if it were a VG30DE but to find either is about the same cost so why not get the TT engine and just dump the turbos. The other problems that I have run into is I will need to come up with a whole new ECU stand alone management system for a VG30DES. Hell I might just try and get the 3.2/3.3L stroker kit for it and just go balls to the wall..... this will definately be a 2 year job.

Re: some days are just not my day.....

I have looked into a few basic things thruogh them. I found my block locally. A J30 block (VG30) Just the block for 500. I figure I can mike it out and check for deck warping. If everything checks out I will probly buy it from him. Then I will have to begin the hunt for a billet crank, stronger rods, and hellified pistons (9:1, troffed out). I can shop around online at speedline to find most of that. So thats not a huge deal. I want the stronger bottom end so I can run a bit more boost safely, and if I later go insane with it I can do what ever my twisted little mind cooks up. The hard part will be finding some decent heads. I might just try and go through JWT for them. After all they dont need to know what kind of application its going on just that its boosted. As I said before this is going to be ALOT of fun I can tell this now.

Re: some days are just not my day.....

probly this weekend if weather holds up....... If not then at work sometime next week.

I figure now with stronger internals, I should be able to push it well into the 500HP range with a SC setup. Trust me I would love to find a positive disp supercharger that could fit but there isnt a chance in hell of me making that work on a 10k budget. I will be stretching it with this project.
