Well for 80k i can buy a lotus Elise, put 20k into some modifications. and the rest will go for insurance and gas for the next few years. That is what i would like to see. an Elise v. Evo 8. Evo would probably have it except for in the high speed corners where the elise's mid engine balence would out handle the Evo's front engine design.

40k USD. Fulle equipted sport package and all with out any special paint color its like 44-45k. Not to shabby for such a sexy car and such great performance.
But like i said. The Evo VIII they tested in that video would eat an Elise up. It has almost a full seconds better acceleratio nand the Elise's top speed is right around 150mph where as the Evo is in to the 170's. The Elise, however. would have the Evo in the fast twisties because of its Mid Engine Balence and short wheelbase. But the Elise is deffanitly more than half the car of a 400hp Evo VIII at only half the price.

Id like to see an elise vs. evo8 also...Not many people like the elise, personally I do. At least a comparison for car for price.

I can see how you would pick a Lambo over a Evo, I'm not saying track numbers are everything! I admit there is a certain grade of exquisitness that comes from owning a high end car like that compared to a 40,000 dollar Mitsu. not to mention the status amongst your social group.

My point is that there are too many dickheads out there with way too much money and its cool to hand there ass to em with a four-bangging import. I am a car guy so to me personally screw status and screw putting on a show just cause my badge is more expensive then yours, to me its all about performance. I love the fact that that my friends STI is faster then his father-in-laws Corvette, I love the fact that I made my boss look like an asshole when he bought a new navigator and decked it out with luxury shit and I smoked his ass on the way to the company picnick and every one said "you spend how much on that cow?" I love the fact that my boys SRT-4 kills all the rafters around here running stock Mustang GTs. and I crack up whenever I see a supercharged acura typeS family sedan with a nav system smoke a sport car and leave em with thier jaw dropped (hint hint) I am the underdog and I love to see the underdog come out on top, and I didnt vote and I am still alive so Screw you Puffy!

Hey, i know exactly what you mean.... meaning I agree for the most part.

Everytime I see someone who owns a sports car who never EVER pushes it unless they are showing off to people who wouldnt understand what they're being shown, I get very... oh whats the word... not jealous because I sit comfortable knowing that I love and respect my car more than they do theirs... oh... whats the word... PISSED.

My friend's dad owned a Lotus Elise in Hong Kong for 5 years I think. They're nice cars, and it looks fantastic in yellow. His only problem was that he had to ship the car out to Britain to get a replacement part or something....there's not alot of Lotus dealers in Hong Kong

There is also the feeling a car gives you. Something less tangible, something more subjective that can't be measured like price or horsepower.

Would you rather have a Ferrari or a Mitsubishi? The racing pedigree of a Ferrari or Lambo or Lotus is so rich and the brands are so exotic, there's something to be said for them, even if they can (or can't) be beaten by some cheap Asian or American car.

I'd take the shittiest Ferrari ever (in my opinion either the non-turbo 208 or the Mondial) over any new Mitsubishi, Subaru, Honda, Nissan or Toyota just because its a Ferrari.

Although more efficient, more reliable, cheaper and in most ways better, Japanese cars are painfully ordinary and emotionless COMPARED to a Ferrari or Lambo. But more they're more practical and sensible!

Don't get me wrong - I'm not putting down Japanese cars. But how many of us own Lambos or Lotuses? Now THAT would be the shit.
