Wow, after reading about all you guys adventures, I think I'm gonna get the shop to replace mine. Thanks, and sorry you guys.

Re: Stuck - removing RH driveaxle from bearing mount
You're probably on the right track!
During the job you'll almost certainly kick yourself for starting on it. After you complete a job like this, you'll feel pretty good about yourself for having persevered and for having figured it out...and you'll feel good about having encountered generous people like Allen. All considered though, unless you have a lot of time and love a challenge, letting a pro do it is probably a very smart move. I don't think I'd do it a second time, but it's tempting because I understand it better now. |

Re: Stuck - removing RH driveaxle from bearing mount
I guess it depends on what you want to get out of it or what you end up getting out of it. Having a better idea of what you may run into at least gives you a much more informed choice.
Who knows? Maybe the driveaxle remanufacturers, Chiltons, Haynes, and Toyoughta will read this stuff and improve their products sufficient to make it the straightforward, relatively easy task it could and should be. Car Component Technologies (CCT), which supplied my driveaxles, knows about it and is working on it. If I have the time and still have the car, or don't have the money, I will probably replace mine the next time. However, I probably would not have done the passenger side, had I read this thread first. As azw said, we understand it better now and I printed this thread and stuck it in my Haynes manual. |
