Re: rank the cobalt
silverado's and some trucks are ok...mostly their car's are cheap feeling and have same interior features same radio's. Hell the cavalier didnt change interiors for what 10 years?
GM made their shit cheap, they may be trying to fix that but as of recently their cars were made like shit, realize it and accept it.

Re: rank the cobalt
Of course the Cavalier is crap, it hasn't been re-designed in ten years. Look at some of their newer cars like the Malibu, the Corvette, and the Cobalt - all fine cars with modern interiors. Even the Aveo is good for its market segment.

Re: rank the cobalt
The Cobalt has 205hp/200tq and msrp's around $21,500.
The Neon has ~240hp/250tq, looks better, and costs the same. The Cobalt's tested 1/4 time is 14.9, and the Neon's is 14.1. I'd rather have the far more upgradable Neon.. Anybody read up on the 500whp one that some guy only spent $5,000 to upgrade? I don't think the Cobalt will see that kind of added-power/money ratio, being supercharged. Performance-wise I would rank the Cobalt above an RSX Type-S, alongside an Eclipse GT, and below a Neon SR-T/4. Ergonomics-wise I would rank it below all three, looks like a cheap ass interior to me and the ugly spoiler on them screams 1990's rice .

Re: rank the cobalt
SRT-4's stats are 230 hp and 250 torque, but both are disgustingly underrated. In addition, it has a much better suspension, better brakes, and a bad-ass LSD. There is no doubt that the SRT-4 is the better performance machine, but the Cobalt is better looking, better interior-wise, and cheaper...

Re: rank the cobalt
Too bad other cars are already more than a decade ahead of Chevy though.. For instance Honda has vtec which is 15+ years old and Chevy just now comes out with their own crummy variable valve timing, Ecotec
![]() They should stick to what they know, which are the LT1's and other "pour a ton of gas into it for power" engines. |

Re: rank the cobalt
^^ how can you quote a camaro, i mean shit, i have never seen one talk.
the Cobalt looks to be a much better car than the cavalier, but they are both commuters. nothign more. looks liek the srt-4 would waste the SS, but to alot of people, thats not what its all about. Neons are popular with this problem and that problem, and i am willing to bet, where i live more cobalt SS's sell than srt-4's. and hardly any of either will sell. Gm definetley making a step in teh right direction though. expanding thier market. now all they need is to lower the price of the gto about $15,000 and bring it to Canada.

If a camaro could talk, thats probably what the car would say...and yes I would love to see a nice gto in canada followed by an evo, and just for kicks, a scion tc
I like the new cobalt, much more than the cavalier and all around more than the srt-4...It looks alot better inside and out, reasonably priced, and the ss has some speed going on...GM's engines have come a long way, but they still have alot of work to do. an rsx can hit 200hp na, but chevy had to supercharge it to get those ponies. Its the same thing with the Grand prix

Re: rank the cobalt
im willing to bet if it could talk, it probabely wouldnt be picking up girls for no reason, and it how can it kick someones ass, its a car, maybe run them over. besides the point anyways. If iwas to go out now, and i was offered an Srt-4 for the same price as a Cobalt SS, id take the neon, and im a GM guy.

Re: rank the cobalt
Agreed; GM engines aren't about horsepower, they're about gas mileage and torque. Yes, they may be a bit outdated, but that also means they are cheaper and easier to work on. GM's 3800 Series II V6 is one of my favorite motors on the market. 230 torque gives you very good passing power on the highway, and you get 30+ mpg while doing it.
