Re: Re: I fucked up my Z28 @ 120

finally i got some pics... here is the rim that got busted... the tire came almost completely off. i cleaned up the rim for the pic. i also put my 10.5x18 and 9.5x17 rims on the car, so i will post some pics of those and the customizing i had to do to ge them to fit. the rear axle on the car is fucked up too, so I ordered the SLP rear axle assemble with 3.73 gears for $2,400... i can't wait to get that on!

Re: I fucked up my Z28 @ 120

blueturtle, i live in NOVA, but i raced down in norfolk va, wed drive up into maryland, out in the boonies, race, and drive home. and yeah rollcages can look cool, but they add hundreds of pounds of weight to the car, so if you run say, 11.9 and then have to put the car in, youll drop to say a 12.5 (rough guess to illustrate a point, not an exact number)

You darn right! I will not bother to tell you how many camaros I have seen on flatbeds totalled out from the highway. From my racing days I have learned what driving safe is all about. Most people have NO CLUE how dangerous speeding (etc...) is or whether or not they are driving stupid. I know from experience how quickly cars in front of you can hit you if they apply the brakes. I was hit by a drunk and had back surgery thanks to the accident so that is why I chew out bad drivers. That is what you are, A BAD DRIVER! You will get better though I hope. I do not want to see people in the hospital because of accidents. I think drivers training should include hitting a wall at 15 mph or so. Just to give new drivers a taste of impact. Peace out and drive safe.

We've all done stupid stuff!!

We've all done stupid stuff but you should consider yourself extremely lucky that you're car is not wasted. I used to live in west Texas and I drove a little 4-banger S10. Well one day I was doing about 70 (the last time I looked anyway) and tried to zip around a van to catch the next exit. The only problem was that this particular exit was one of those loop exits. The part that I didn't know/expect was for it to be covered with gravel!!! All of the sudden I lost control of the truck, hit the guard rail, WENT THROUGH THAT!!, and rolled down a hill that was probably 60-65 feet to the bottom.

Now, if this says anything about the newer vehicles, I walked away from that mess with a cut about 1/4 of an inch on my wrist and sorta like carpet burn on my other hand from the airbad. No broken bones, no whiplash, no impalements, nothing. By the laws of probability, I should be in a box.

The rest of the bad news....
I had let my insurance laspse four days earlier. So, now, I've got quite a mess to clean up. lol!!! So, take these other guys' advise and go to the track. Not as axhilerating but you have a better change of living.
